📣 FLEETWOOD BUSINESSES — THIS MEETING IS FOR YOU! 📣

If you run or manage a business in Fleetwood Town Centre, we’d really encourage you to come along to an important business support meeting next week.

The ongoing road closure has had a significant impact on businesses across the town, and while this meeting isn’t about the damaged building or the legal issues surrounding the closure, it IS about something we can influence:

👉 What happens next for Fleetwood and how we move forward together.

🚪 Doors open: 5:30pm
🕕 Meeting: 6pm–7pm

Wyre Council's Economic Development Team, in liaison with Food For Thought, The Crafty Company Fleetwood and The Small Business Academy, will be bringing local businesses together to discuss:

✅ Future investment and regeneration planned for Fleetwood

🎄 Marketing and promotional activity for the lead-up to Christmas and beyond

💼 FREE business support currently available through Wyre Council and its partners

🌟 Local business success stories

🤝 How we can improve communication, collaboration and support between businesses

💬 Most importantly, there will be an opportunity to talk about the real challenges facing businesses right now, identify what support is needed and look at what we can practically do together.

Fleetwood has some fantastic independent businesses and some incredibly determined people behind them. The aim isn't to sit around talking about what's gone wrong — it's to get businesses, the Council and support organisations in the same room and focused on what we can do next.

Carol and I are really pleased to be hosting the meeting at our new Anchor Point Cafe, right in the middle of the affected area, ahead of our opening.

An update on the Lord Street closure

Many of you will know that Lord Street businesses have been struggling due to the ongoing road closure and the temporary shuttle bus bypassing the town centre.
After raising these concerns with our MP, Lorraine Beavers, she asked for consent to speak to Wyre Council on my behalf and has now confirmed that she has done that.
The council is now looking into the issue and is considering changing the temporary bus route so that it includes parts of Lord Street. While this isn't a complete solution, it's a positive step and shows that our concerns are being heard.
The long-term solution remains reopening Lord Street as soon as it is safe to do so, and our MP has confirmed she is continuing to push for action.
Thank you to everyone who has supported independent businesses during this difficult time. Every visit, purchase and share really does make a difference.
Please continue to shop local and support the businesses on Lord Street while we work towards getting our town centre fully reopened.

Thank you so much to everyone who showed their support on yesterday's video. We've been overwhelmed by the incredible messages, well wishes, and the number of young people reaching out to become part of what we're building.
The response we've received over the last 24 hours has been beyond anything we could have imagined—far more than we ever thought possible.
We're moving forward with the café, and things are happening so quickly. This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to share more with you all. Thank you for being part of the journey!
