Never a dull moment. 😂😂

Unexpected swarm. I am fairly sure at least two of our colonies have swarmed already this season and I’ve missed them. But here in the ground is another. Got this one in a box though. May need some more hives soon. 😬😎🐝

Spring has been better to our girls this season. If I hadn’t had two hives swarm (2 & 3) and lost half the bees then I think we’d have more honey by now. But! No.1 is going great, so all being well in a couple of weeks we will have local honey available!

New gloves from love them!

Evening inspection at the apiary and a split in No.5. If this takes we are up to 5 colonies. No. 5 was running out of space so something had to be done. Hopefully they will survive.

Trying something different this year. Usually with Flow supers I leave them off till the r**e seed is over. This we realise misses out on potentially a substantial flow! So without spending too much I’ve knocked up some found wood supers for my active Flow® Hive colonies to try and capture these early flow. Not going on just yet (even though I understand some already are), but we have to wait for my frames to arrive. If this works we’re in for a spinner too. 😁😂

Trying something new this season. More out of necessity than anything else. Needed to replace some frames, I’ve bought fully assembled frames with foundation in the past, and the frames are foundation less with a wooden starter strip. Had some left over foundation but not enough so having seen this method on Flows website thought I’d try this. A quick scorch with the blowtorch and press the strip in and it melts to the wood. Could have been shorter even but three frames from one sheet. 👍🏻
