Our traditional Aberdeen Angus have no imported bloodlines. We are working with original British genetics and are currently using bulls which date back at least 50 years; bringing new life to old bloodlines. These line bred cattle maintain the original identity of the Angus breed – setting the type. This unique herd provides grass finished beef for superior eating quality. The genetic strength of

Photography season finished at last

Did you know that every year we photograph every cow and heifer on farm? This is so we have a record for future generations of mums, half-sisters, daughters....

I've been thinking a lot about progress of late.

Progress in agriculture is slow so making objective measurements helps track progress (or lack thereof!)
We have harped on for years that we don't do EBVs, but that doesn't mean we don't record.

For a couple of years we noticed that our heifers took a check in growth in the Spring transition moving from indoors to outside. So this year we've worked hard at moving the young heifers around the fields so they always get the best of the grass.

The result is our DLWG in the heifers has gone up from 0.74kg/day to 0.98kg/day since last year. Progress. We have noticed the girls cycling very early now and means they are well and truly ready when they reach breeding age!

More of our young girls. More girls that will become herd cows 🥰
