Dunlouise Aberdeen Angus The Dunlouise Native Aberdeen Angus herd of Geordie, Julia, Duncan and Louise Soutar Welcome to the Dunlouise Aberdeen Angus Facebook!

Our traditional Aberdeen Angus have no imported bloodlines. We are working with original British genetics and are currently using bulls which date back at least 50 years; bringing new life to old bloodlines. These line bred cattle maintain the original identity of the Angus breed – setting the type. This unique herd provides grass finished beef for superior eating quality. The genetic strength of these line bred cattle, leads to uniformity and efficiency, and is the blueprint of the Native Angus breed - the way forward into the 21st Century. Back to basics with these forage efficient cattle! For more information or to get in contact please see our website:

Your less fancy cows

Some cows are always 'wow cows' in the field. Some cows less so but those quiet, work cows are the backbone of a herd.
Kendra is one of these girls for us.
Producing some great progeny and a great embryo donor- she has been a quiet work horse. But she's not a visitor eye-catcher.

We have just weaned her latest bull calf- Dunlouise Kain, a son of Jipsey Earl, who has weaned at 59% of her body weight at 8 months. No feed. Just mum and grass.

That's a great wee cow.

Kain available for sale in 2027 😉

Smiling because I can already hear the keyboard warriors....

This is, quite obviously, a chunky cow. People will think she is a nice paddock ornament, or an expensive grass mower.
When we named this calf after our founding Jipsey, the iconic Jipsey Yoko of Cannahars, she had some some big hooves to fill.

Dunlouise Jipsey Yoko took this responsibility seriously.

Yoko will be 4 years old on Halloween, congratulations to her. She had her first calf 3/9/2025 (Jipsey Bess), flushed to give us 4 conventional embryos (already sold) and was back in calf to calve again 10/9/2026 (Jipsey Calluna).

We feel like Yoko is living up to her namesake quite nicely. Bess is definitely joining the cow herd and I suspect Calluna will too.

Special post for a special lady!

We have flushed cattle with conventional MOET flushing for 20+ years. I attribute Dads hair turning from grey to white because of it.

But occasionally you get a great day to really celebrate!
Very clever girl Nadia produced 30 (3-0!) embryos to the gorgeous Curve Bender!

Well done Nadia! Sadly, she could not partake in the prosecco had at lunchtime. But she did get a new bale of hay and that's about the same?

More progress...

Faithful fencing has been up at the paddocks since we moved to Kingston 35 years ago... She's done a good long service.

Super pleased with the new look 😎

My non-farming friends laugh at how excited new fencing makes me!
