Gumble… The Dinosaur… Rubble… we’ve all got our favourite Barney. But ours has to be the founder and leader of Barney’s Brewery.

Housed at the Edinburgh arts venue, Summerhall, Barney’s have been brewing since 2012, making them Edinburgh’s oldest non-traditional brewery. Their Red Rye and Volcano IPA are absolute stalwarts of the Scottish Craft revolution, but Barney’s continue to push the envelope… Marshmallow Imp Stout or Dill Pickle Gose anyone?

Barney’s also host their own festival, Gravity the weekend after Borderlands.
So do yourself a favour, get tickets for both and make this your best September ever.

We’re not ones for playing favourites, but when it comes to breweries that aren’t Tempest, Manchester’s Pomona Island might just be top-dog.

That’s a fairly bold statement, but believe us, the proof is in the highly-flavoursome, extremely-drinkable pudding. It also helps that their head-brewer used to beer a Tempest brewer.

The crispiest lagers… the opulent barrel-aged stouts… incredible sours … and more top tier hazies than a three-armed man can shake a stick at…

Now would be a good time to power up the laptop and get yourself a ticket to Borderlands.

Whether you’ve spent your day hurtling down the trails of mount splendour or trying to fix a puncture on the side of the dual-carriageway, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of a bike ride. Well, apart from maybe the thrill of the cold post-ride beer.

And this session-strength hazy fits that bill perfectly. Brewed entirely with Southern Hemisphere hops, Free Ride sees Nelson Sauvin and Galaxy riding in tandem to deliver gooseberry, citrus and tropical hoppiness.

Four weeks from now Cromarty Brewing Co will be swapping the Scottish Highlands for the Scottish Lowlands… Craig, Chappy and co. are one of the cornerstones of the Scottish craft beer landscape, knocking out, elite innovative beers for the last 15 years.

Devil horns at the ready! Holy Goat will be coming down from Dundee for Borderlands 2026. Armed with funky sours, mixed-ferms, wood-aged stouts and big barley wines, Johnny and James will be sure to blow your minds by pouring some of the most outrageous beers you’ve ever tasted.

Tickets are selling quickly now, with Saturday afternoon all sold out… so maybe don’t hang around.

*** 4th BREWERY ANNOUNCEMENT ***

Not sure what the Flemmish (or French) is for hen's teeth, but having Cantillon pouring at a beer festival is a very, very rare thing. For over 125 years, this family run Belgian brewery have been producing their extrordinary lambics in the time-honoured tradition from their very time-honoured brewery in Brussels. Their surely can't be a more loved and respected brewery anywhere on earth than Cantillon.
