Next Tuesday, these 4 are setting off on an incredible challenge — cycling 340km over 6 days from Mount Kilimanjaro to the coast! 🚵‍♀️🌋🌊

We’ve seen first-hand just how amazing the Garstang and local community can be when it comes to getting behind a great cause, after the incredible support we received for our own charity fundraiser a few weeks ago! ❤️

So we’d love to see that same Garstang spirit getting behind Kili 2 Coast 🙌

Something a little bit different has landed for the cooked counter at Hamlets Butchers… our brand new pastrami! 🤤

We’ve been working on this one behind the scenes and we’re chuffed with how it’s turned out. Beautifully seasoned, packed full of flavour and perfect sliced nice and thin for sandwiches, bagels or a proper deli-style lunch! 🥪

Whether you’re a pastrami fan already or fancy trying something new, come and give ours a go! 👌

There was one person who certainly wasn’t expecting anyone to get it right… 👀

Jack, one of our butchers, said that if someone guessed the correct name, he’d eat his shoe! 👞😂

Well Jack… someone got it right! We’re still waiting for the shoe-eating to happen… 👀🤣

We’ve been listening to you lot… because apparently you can NEVER have too many varieties of sausage! 😂

We’ve now fitted our counter with some new trays, meaning we can get more sausage varieties out than ever before! 🙌

We’ve got loads of flavours available, including some of our more unusual and popular varieties that we don’t always have room for in the counter.

It means more choice for you, more flavours on display and hopefully fewer occasions where you ask for a sausage we haven’t got out! 😋

🥩 WHY DO WE AGE OUR STEAKS? 🥩

We often get asked the question “why do you age your steaks?” Genuinely it makes a difference and here is why!

When beef is aged, natural enzymes gradually break down the muscle fibres, making the meat more tender, more flavoursome and more enjoyable to eat. 🤤

So what’s the difference between a 1-week-old steak and a 28-day-aged steak?

🥩 7 DAYS OLD (Red colour in the first 2 pictures)
Still a great steak, but the ageing process is only just getting started. You’ll get a good beef flavour and a firm texture, but it won’t have had as much time to develop that tenderness.

🥩 28 DAYS AGED (Darker colour in the first 2 pictures)
Now we’re talking! After four weeks, the beef has had much longer for those natural enzymes to work their magic. The result is a noticeably more tender steak, deeper beefy flavour and a much richer eating experience.

It’s one of the reasons we take the time to age our beef properly at Hamlets. We believe good steaks shouldn’t be rushed! 🥩🔥

What a brilliant day it’s been at Clitheroe Food Festival! 🤩

We’ve been absolutely blown away by how busy and successful it’s been. From the minute we arrived and people came down, we’ve been kept on our toes with sausage rolls flying out and pork pies disappearing! 🥧👏

But the best part has been meeting so many new faces! It’s been fantastic chatting to people who have never tried Hamlets before, as well as seeing some of our regular customers!

We’ve loved every minute of it and we’re so pleased that our pork pies and sausage rolls have gone down so well.

A massive thank you to everyone who came over, bought something, had a chat and supported us. ❤️

A busy few weekends for us at Hamlets as we’re delighted to announce that we will be back at Clitheroe Food Festival this year! 🥩🥧

We’ll be bringing along our beautiful pork pies, homemade sausage rolls and plenty of other little bits for you to enjoy.

Whether you’re a regular customer or visiting us for the first time, we’d love you to come and say hello, grab a bite to eat and support your local butcher.

We’ll also be bringing along our Name the Lamb competition in aid of Lancashire Mind, so if you haven’t entered yet, this is the perfect chance! For just £2, you’ll be in with the chance of winning a beef hamper, a lamb hamper and taking the cuddly lamb home too – all while supporting a fantastic local charity!

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this incredible journey. Today we completed our 21-mile charity walk for Lancashire Mind! 💙🎉

What started as an idea turned into a challenge we’ll never forget. There were plenty of tired legs, sore feet and moments where we had to dig deep, but crossing that finish line made every step worthwhile. Especially with a pint to finish!

We took on this walk in memory of Tim and we’re so proud to have done something that will help support the amazing work Lancashire Mind does for people across our community.

To everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets, entered our competitions, shared our posts or simply cheered us on along the way – thank you. Your support kept us going and helped make this all possible.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, and we can’t wait to reveal the final fundraising total soon. Let’s see if we can squeeze in a few more donations before we close everything off! 💙🚶‍♂️

It’s been a busy day with even more wonderful fundraisers! Andrea hot footed it over to Preston to catch up with the hamletbutchers gang who were half way round their guild wheel walk challenge!! Thank you so much everyone! It was so lovely to meet you all. We cannot wait to announce the amount you’ve raised!
