🎁🎉 RAFFLE ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉🎁

First and foremost we would like to thank every single business/business owner and individuals that have contributed to some really amazing raffle prizes. Without each and every one of you we wouldn’t be able to put on such a great raffle!

Our raffle tickets will be £5 per strip because we have some amazing prizes up for grabs! We've worked hard to put together a fantastic variety of 22, yes TWENTY-TWO, high-quality prizes, so every strip gives you the chance to win something really special. Raffle tickets will go on sale from next week, Monday 8th June, purchasing tickets are only available within the shop! And the winners will all be announced on 25th July, a week before our 21 mile walk!

And a prize given to us by our very generous member of staff Andrew Fenton, who has offered his lodge in the lakes for the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for up to 4 people which is worth up to £300 per night.

Let’s not forget why we are doing this raffle though, We're holding this raffle to raise money for Lancashire Mind, a charity close to our hearts that provides vital mental health support and wellbeing services across the local community and of course Tim, our late Dad/Boss. Every ticket purchased will help us support their important work with all money going to their charity

💥 LOOKING FOR IDEAS FOR TEA OVER THE WEEKEND? 💥

Try our melt in the mouth salt and pepper pork king ribs! Perfect for tea at the end of a day like today.

Follow these simple cooking instructions for fall off the bone king ribs:

1) Pop your king ribs into a foil tray and cover in tin foil.
2) Cook in the oven for 2 hours at 160.
3) After 2 hours, remove the tin foil and increase the oven to 220 for 10-15 minutes to render some of the fat and finish those tender king ribs off for the ultimate taste.

As we mentioned in our last post we just want to say a massive THANK YOU to every single customer who came through our doors these last couple of days. The support for us has been incredible and the team has worked flat out to keep the counters full.

On Friday & Saturday alone we produced:

After a really busy day yesterday this is how you left us! But after some hard work this morning, WE’RE BACK! All your BBQ goods are all ready for your custom!

Before the first customer walks through the door, the work is already well underway.
Knives sharpened. Counters prepared. Displays carefully built by hand. Every cut trimmed, tied and presented with pride.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from two fantastic local sportsmen from Garstang helping us raise money for such an important cause!

A huge thank you to Adam Phillips of Barnsley Football Club and Sam Dugdale of The Sale Sharks for kindly donating signed shirts to the Hamlets Butchers charity raffle in support of Lancashire Mind in memory of our old boss, Tim Hamlet.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to all the local businesses who have generously agreed to donate prizes for the raffle so far — your kindness and support means a great deal to us!

How we make our own home cured back bacon:

With the pork loin piece that we have, we remove the bone and rind so we are left with boneless and rindless pork loins.

We then trim both ends and remove a little bit of length making it perfectly sized. Each are then placed into a vacuum bag and we add our curing salt, making sure the salt is touching every surface of the loin.

Not only does the curing salt preserve the meat, it also enhances its flavour and texture. Home curing bacon gives the bacon a firmer texture than it would if it was wet cured due to the pork being cured with salt rather than water. Also, whilst cooking you’re less likely to see the bacon shrink than you would if it was being wet cured.

Once the cured loins are vacuum packed, they are left to cure in our fridge for a few weeks until they’re firm and ready to be sliced. Dry curing our own bacon is a slow process but the product at the end of it is well worthwhile.

From the cured loins we can get our very own Bacon Chops, Bacon joints and our lovely sliced Home cured Back Bacon 🥓
