Exciting news for our Cask Masters brand. The Spirits Business has jsut nominated Cask Masters in the Wh**ky Brand of the Year category!

It's a nice moment to pause on. Launched less than three years ago, Cask Masters has quietly become a mainstay of what we do, with over 60 releases now from 37 different distilleries. Age statements running from 8 to 50 years old, with on-shelf prices starting below £60.

Every part of it stays in-house — cask selection, design, bottling, labelling, logistics — with exclusive releases going out to distributors, retailers and events along the way.

Thank you to every wh**ky enthusiast, distributor, reviewer and retailer we've connected with so far — this wouldn't mean much without you!

Benrinnes is one of those Speyside distilleries that does things its own way — meaty, full-bodied, and nothing like its neighbours.

A first fill Oloroso sherry butt finish gives this 14yo Benrinnes flavours of leather, black treacle, dark fruit, and menthol. 50.9% ABV.

Something special is making its way across the Atlantic. This Blair Athol, distilled back in November 2011 and just bottled this June, is heading state-side as an exclusive release for the American market, landing soon through our friends at Henry Preiss.

Blair Athol doesn't get bottled as a single cask all that often, so this one's a real treat. Fourteen years in a first fill American Bourbon Hogshead has done exactly what you'd hope: honey, orchard fruit, and a real depth to the spirit underneath. Highland character through and through.

We've timed this one to land alongside America's 250th year of independence, and the label's our own nod to that, Lady Liberty watching over the skyline. Just 250 bottles making the crossing, each one at 49.9% ABV.🥃

This is part of what we love doing at Cask Masters, putting together single cask releases tailored to specific markets, so wh**ky lovers in different corners of the world get something made just for them.

Fermentation time is one of the simplest variables a distiller can control — and one of the most impactful.

Shorter fermentations tend to produce a cleaner, meatier character. Longer ones allow fruity esters and floral notes to develop, adding complexity to the wash. A few extra hours in the washback can take a spirit in a completely different direction. By the end of it, the wash is cloudy, aromatic, and full of flavour compounds built up over days of active fermentation.

This one took a different path. Single grain Scotch has been quietly growing in popularity, and if you've been following our journey, you'll know we love exploring what grain wh**ky can offer. We kept it in a 2nd fill Sherry Hogshead for fifteen years, letting the wood do its work slowly — soft sweetness, gentle dried fruit, just enough to complement the grain without overpowering it.

Open it up and you get fantastic flavours of peanut brittle, demerara sugar, black treacle, and toasted coconut.

Just 304 bottles in total, and a reminder that single grain Scotch deserves a lot more attention than it gets. When did you last reach for one?
