Meet W**emaker: Domaine Pignier

Come and join us for the evening as we explore the iconic w**e region of Jura in France, home of the legendary Vin Jaune. We will be joined by Jean-Etienne from Domaine Pignier, a third generation producer in the village of Montaigu.
The Pignier estate, the only professional w**e-growing operation still active in their village, owes its origins to the Carthusian monks who were, in the 13th century, the first to cultivate vines on the slopes of the foothills of the Jura mountains.
Not only does Jura produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir like its neighbours in Burgundy, we’ll have the chance to taste indigenous varieties such as Trousseau, Poulsard and Savagnin.
Pignier’s estate has been working with organics and biodynamics since the early 90s, and importers Raeburn Fine W**es in Edinburgh have been enjoying the fruits of that labour ever since. We’re so lucky to have these w**es in our shop and are so excited to have Jean-Etienne guiding us through his family’s w**es.
Despite being one of the smaller w**e regions in France, Jura is rich with cultural and gastronomic heritage including Comté, Morbier and Mont d’Or cheeses.
We’ll be enjoying some of their delicious cheeses and charcuterie alongside the w**es of Domaine Pignier on the night.
