We are an independent wine and beer merchant based on West Nile Street in Glasgow city centre. Our craft beer range includes many fine brews from Britain, Belgium, the USA, the Czech Republic, and beyond, with everything from the hoppiest of IPAs to the darkest of porters, via lambics, dubbels, tripels, saisons and many more. We have a great range of wine from around the world, with a particular focus on Spain and Italy, as well as classics from France, Australia, Chile, and South Africa amongst others. To round it off we have a choice of champagnes and sparkling wines, along with port, sherry, and dessert wines, while our fine wine cabinet has a small selection or old, rare, or particularly fine wines.

Well now, isn’t it dreich? Moods are even lower than the temperature outside and lots of you seem to have been caught without a brolly.

Fortunately we’ll always have b**r (and w**e, see our stories for more of that) and this little lot are all fresh on the shelves and on the web now.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Stenroth have teamed up with Two Towns Down for a New England Pale hopped with Krush & Mosaic and Otherworld bring us the latest version of their hazy pale Free Spirit. Was it always Gluten Free? Well, it is now!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Talking of Gluten Free, Arbor have taken their Mosaic pale and dialled it up to IPA strength with the (fruit) punchy ‘Mega Mosaic’, and there’s the latest version of that modern classic The Kernel’s Table B**r.

🇪🇺 aaaaaaaaaand in Euro B**rs there’s Germany’s oldest Weizendoppelbock, perfect for keeping the chill from your bones and the 2024 vintage of Boon’s Schaarbeekse Kriek, their beautiful Lambic aged on intense Belgian cherries.

Is it the weekend yet?

It has been quite a day here on West Nile St. but some of us have a day off tomorrow and some Scottish b**rs have arrived to see us through. Our lovely pals at STF dropped in Saison Rouge (yeah, a red saison! Colour us interested 🔴) alongside a fresh take on Claudia, their delicious NEIPA, this time with some Strata in there for an extra bit of bitter bite alongside the fruity fun. ☁️

And if you’re in the mood for something a little more daft then Vault City are ushering in Spooky Season with a bright green Gose and a frightening levels of pumpkin spice. 🎃

It’s the start to a new week so that means a look back on the best selling white and red w**es of last week 🧐

You might have already noticed that this week looks a little different to previous weeks and that’s because you all were so mad for the Bodegas Ondarre Reserva that we don’t have any left on our shelves! If you fancy a trip out west the angels at Good Spirits Co Clarence Drive have some on theirs.

Don’t say you weren’t warned, it really is a BIG b**r day here on West Nile St.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Verdant have something smoky & Festbier adjacent alongside a couple of hoppy numbers (once again I find myself chuckling at ‘Four All Intensive Porpoises’), half a dozen from Rivington including collaborations with some great breweries from their Farm Trip festival and a delicious sounding Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, 2 fresh Pastores and the first bottled b**r from Fourman Brewery (a super stubby filled with a Maple Pecan Imperial Stout 😍🤤).

🇩🇪 Sudden Death pay tribute to some of their favourite NZ hops in IPA, DIPA & TIPA form with the ‘My Precious’ serious, which is pretty fitting during Tolkien Week (did you know it’s Tolkien Week this week? Well, now you do), and there’s also a couple from Fuerst Wiacek: a juicy lil crushable Pale Ale and one of those IPAs that you like.

🇧🇪 There’s Bink Blond and Bink Tripel, both new to us and the welcome return of De Ranke’s Saison de Dottignes, an all time fave.

🇵🇹 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand finally, just one from Ophiussa but what a one! We never manage to keep their Cream Stouts in stock for long and we don’t reckon that a Caramel & Chocolate Fudge version is likely to be any different.

All on the shelves and online now, just in time for whatever shenanigans you have planned for the long weekend ahead. 🍻

A couple of nice new Scottish scoops before a BIG b**ry day tomorrow.

Closet Brewing & Mother Tongue collaborate on a German style Festbier, crisp & refreshing (and pairs perfectly with a pretzel), whilst the ever reliable Otherworld are back with a bold and bitter IPA hopped with good old Simcoe.

While these w**es won’t stave off scurvy they might just be the perfect pours to navigate the in between-ness of September. Four orange w**es each glorious in their own right, let’s get into it 🍷🍊

Two come from Matic in Slovenia with ‘Postpoma’ offering bone dry and textured orchard fruits held together by notes of almonds, lychee and a subtle ginger spice. Their Pinot Gris is in honour of their grandfathers dug Aro and delivers aroma of firmest strawberries, rosehip and red apples. In the glass lush, dry and crisp with notes of red fruits, a bit of brioche and a goodly bit of spice.

Next up is a skin contact Pinot Gris from Moorooduc from Australia. Slightly floral with notes of rhubarb, red plums, tangy red berries and Moroccan spice with juuuust the right amount of tannins to keep things fresh. Fun fact: this is the only w**e David has classified as both an orange and a red w**e.

Finally an orange we’ve had before from Eschenhof Holzer, with this w**e you’re going to get plenty of citrus fruits alongside tropical fruits with super subtle tannins.

There are even more orange w**es in the shop so why not pop by and have a browse!

It’s (still) Monday which means taking a look back at the best selling white and red w**es of last week and folk must have been feeling ✨fancy✨ because the best selling red was from oor fine w**e cabinet 😎

We’re definitely noticing a shift towards bigger, cosier reds as the weather continues to shift towards Autumn, and we don’t blame you!

Red w**e: Clusel-Roch Côte-Rôtie ‘Champon’ 2019 is a deeply concentrated and lively pour with notes of cherries, black raspberry, botanical herbs, Moroccan spices, hints of vanilla and a slightly salty savoury edge that builds with the spice. A cosy hug in a class?? Sign us UP!

White w**e: an absolute is Gavi Di Gavi is fresh and has lots of fresh fruits and hints of floral notes to create harmonious pour that is perfect for the start of an evening or alongside seafood.

It’s been a full day of lovely people and equally lovely conversations, so here’s to a new week with a fabulous start!

From the sublime to the ridiculous in today’s fresh b**r drop, we’ll leave it up to you to decide which is which.

There’s festbier adjacent selections from STF, a real mixed bag from Vault City, including the most mirthsome moniker ‘Jaisoor’ (yup, it’s a sour take on Jaipur in collaboration with Thornbridge) and a mad blend of Impy Stout and Barleyw**e in collaboration with Cloudwater, more Imperial Stout from Pohjala in both coconut and peanut butter varieties and - if all of that sounds a bit much - there’s an alcohol free l***r with raspberry which is sounding most refreshing right about now.

Yup, the nights are drawing in and b**rs of a darker stripe are starting to hit the shelves.
We know several of you whose mouths will be watering.

This **rtuesday is all about Canada!

Yes, it’s that time again when some of our favourite Canadian breweries hit the shelves.
This time round it’s Bellwoods with an exceptionally named IPA for the cat lady in your life, a delicious sounding pineapple, tangerine & grapefruit sour and a Foeder Aged hoppy Brett B**r, Blood Brothers with a hazy boi and a sour based on a Shirley Temple and Dieu du Ciel! with a sour Raspberry b**r and 2 takes on ‘Péché Mortel’ their Imperial Coffee Stout: a dulce de leche version and the (IMHO) world beating original.

All on the shelves and online now. 🍻🍁
