Flat Pack Meals is a volunteer led, not-for-profit, food project aiming to provide local communities with affordable and healthy recipe packs to cook at home every week. Each meal and soup pack contains all the ingredients required to cook the recipes along with detailed instructions. By offering these food packs we hope to not only make it easier to have a low-cost and healthy home cooked meal every week but to also teach, motivate and inspire confidence in our customers to cook for themselves. We believe this will help our customers to continue, and also enjoy, making affordable, healthy choices throughout the week for themselves and their families.

✨ Mother's of the Scheme ✨

We're looking for a group of women to take part in this wonderful heritage project that can ensure the sustainability of the project moving on past us hosting it 🙏

This core group will ensure that the community's history is being properly preserved and archived and that we continue telling the stories of women in the community ❤️

Celebrating new Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund (CMCAF) awards through our participatory grant making process!

1st Sept was the last of our participatory grant making co-design workshops. The final workshop reviewed all the recommendations across the 5 workshops, to achieve a final endorsement from the group. Hosted by the amazing Andalus!

The initial 5 years of the CMCAF saw funds distributed to groups local to the Glasgow Community Energy (GCE) solar PV school sites. Beyond this period, GCE was keen to develop the fund to make it an open grant funding stream for the city.

The participatory grant making process meant working with community groups in Glasgow to design how the CMCAF should operate in future years. As part of the process, each group applied for a grant award of up to £3,000 to test the application and scoring process they had designed before making final recommendations.

The CMCAF Funding Co-Design process was incredibly worthwhile, generating a positive experience for participants, and gives GCE confidence that the fund can meet the needs of groups in the city.

We also recently announced a new community membership offer, where anyone in the Glasgow City Region can now join for £1. Our membership puts power in the hands of the people, ensuring the energy transition is a change that everyone can be a part of shaping. Becoming a member of GCE also means you become an owner. All of our members have an equal say in shaping the organisation.

A beautiful poem to come out of the beautiful conversations and meetings this week around Mother's of the Scheme 🙂

Such beautiful stories being shared about women across Easterhouse and Springburn, and one particular comment of "honestly wit a wummin she truly wis" with a bellow of laughter after is truly the beauty of capturing oral histories 🙏

This poem below was written together from a group of women who have no experience i previously, and it's just too amazing not to share with you all 🙌

Tomorrow we're having another workshop in Glasgow Kelvin College and we need the communities voices to shape this beautiful project. We need YOUR stories about some of the amazing women in Easterhouse 🙏🏼

All of this work will go towards a performance piece which will be showcased in the fabulous Platform Glasgow 👋🏽

💜 EVERY COMMUNITY HAS STORIES THAT DESERVE TO BE REMEMBERED 💜

Who are the women that inspired you? The neighbour who was always there to help. The mum who fought for better. The gran who held the community together. The volunteer, the carer, the campaigner, the friend.

We want to hear their stories.

Mothers of the Scheme is a community heritage project celebrating the incredible women who have shaped Easterhouse and the surrounding communities. Together we'll collect stories, memories and experiences that will become part of a lasting archive of local history.

These first two sessions are sign-up workshops, giving you the chance to find out more, meet others and share your ideas. No writing or creative experience is needed—just come along for a chat.
