We turned fifteen tonight and Thomas from The Valinch Glasgow made sure we had a nice place to mark the occasion.

This year, Wh**ky Blender turns 15. Fifteen years since two pals from Glasgow had an idea that was, by any sensible measure, a daft one — and somehow it's still going, and we're still having a dram guid time.

We've got some wee bottles with quality patter... wh**kyblender.com/products/quality-patter

Sometimes the wh**ky is the easy bit. It's the label that does the talking. One delicious wee bottle of Scotch, hand-picked from our casks, wearing whichever label suits the moment — a heartfelt "I love you", a sceptical "Did ye aye?", a well-earned "You're a total legend". Maybe your pal has fina...

What are the "wh**ky phrases" you think folk need to stop saying... here's ours:

Six phrases I hope you will now never say, and some solid facts you can drop anyone who dares to utter one in your presence.

We hear it all the time: "I'd love to try this, but I don't really know wh**ky." Good news — it's better if you don't. When you don't know about single malt distilleries, the different regions, or what "non-chill-filtered" means. You're more attuned to what you like the taste of. This is why we love blind tastings (and why we introduced our black bottle option).

If you've been putting it off because you "don't know enough" — that was never a requirement. Pick some flavours that sound good, give it a name that makes you smile, and you're done. Head to the Lab and have a go — or grab a gift voucher and let someone else have the fun.

Buying for a wedding is its own special kind of decision paralysis. Everyone on your list already has a toaster, a set of glasses, and a drawer somewhere full of things they've never used twice. So here's a different idea: something with the couple's name on it, that gets opened, poured, and actually remembered.

Folk say the nicest things...

An amazing concept that actually delivers on its promise! I love this idea and after stumbling across the website I'm so glad I stuck with it and took a shot. I enjoyed playing about with blending my own wh**ky in the 'lab' and I'm beyond happy with the results. I think I've missed my calling in life! The packaging is super-premium, high quality printing, nice textured label etc, like one of the Japanese malts from Suntory. I like heavily-peated wh**ky and the odd sherry-bomb and with a little assistance from Andy I think we got exactly what I wanted. The guys at Wh**kyBlender really know what they're talking about so feel free to reach out to them for help. Also the casks they're using are seriously decent, based on the resultant blend I'm sipping right now. Standardising the casks at 46% makes total sense and still leaves you with a nice strong wh**ky, not too thin, but you can always add a teaspoon of water to get it back to 40—43% if you prefer, but it feels like a 50—55% cask strength bottling so the connoisseur will be happy too. Price-wise I think it's really fair, especially considering the cost of 'Blending Experiences' at some of the Scottish distilleries where you'd pay double the price and only walk away with a 20cl bottle! Really happy with my wh**ky and the whole experience, especially the help from the team. If I had cause to use them for a wedding dram, event dram etc I wouldn't hesitate.

Happy 250th America. We'll be having a drink to the Scots who helped make it happen.
