💳 MINIMUM CARD SPEND — £5
We’ve made the decision to introduce a £5 minimum spend on card payments at Neilson Butchers.
We know this might get a few comments… and I can already hear it:
“You’re up to no good!”
“Tax dodging — the usual!”
We’ve had it all before…
But honestly, it’s none of the above.
Every card transaction comes with charges from the banks and card providers. On smaller purchases, these charges can take up a significant percentage of the sale, which adds up quickly for a small independent business like ours.
By having a £5 minimum card spend, we’re trying to keep our prices as competitive as possible, rather than simply increasing prices across the board to cover those costs.
And there’s another reason we still encourage cash…
We work with and support other local small businesses, many of whom we’re happy to pay in cash. Keeping cash circulating between local businesses helps keep that money within our local community and helps with cash flow.
So yes…
🥩 We still love cash.
💳 We’ll still happily take your card over £5.
