There are two types of cats:

Cats who nap in sunbeams…

And Ash.

Who positions herself behind the kitchen sink like a highly trained, silent, fly-hunting specialist. You wouldn’t know it from the photos, but she is absolutely ON DUTY.

When Mr Farmer can't tell the difference between a shower and farm chores during a tornado warning... 🤣

"Did you shower?"

"Nope. This is what happens when our spoiled farm animals don't accept weather delays."🙄

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but goats do not believe in “out of reach.”

If there are leaves above them, they simply… become taller. Problem solved.

I call it determination. The goats call it Tuesday.

NOT pretty. NOT curated. Definitely NOT Pinterest-worthy.

Just a big plate of scrambled eggs, homemade bread, and sliced avocado—and I love EVERY bite of it.

THIS reminds me why I grow and make so much of our own food. Farm breakfast wins again!

Luna's Recovery Report:

Days 1–13: "Why is everyone ruining my fun?"

Day 14: "I'M FREEEEEE!"

The good news: Luna is healing beautifully and is back to normal activity.

The bad news: Our family now remembers EXACTLY how much energy she has.

Within hours of her release from "medical lockdown," she accidentally knocked over her 4-year-old cousin. He gave her a stern lecture about personal space including a "No, Yuna!", followed immediately by a hug. No hard feelings were reported by either party.

Scar looks great. Fur is growing back. Zoomies have resumed.

Mission accomplished. 🐾

I never know what I’ll find when I go out to gather eggs.

Today it was Bess… already inside the henhouse, fully committed to acting like she belongs there.

This isn’t even new behavior — every summer the goats decide the chicken house is their personal hangout spot. The chickens tolerate it. I question it. The goats ignores both of us.

Farm life: where the goats have decided the henhouse is air conditioning and I just accept it.

A little farm life moment… goats, a long-running burn pile in the background, and one very good reminder to slow down.

In the background is our now-finally-finished burn pile. After about a year of weather delays and challenges with our schedule, it’s all burned down and GONE.

And then there’s the goats… including our oldest, Bess, who fully understands the assignment: find the coolest spot and RELAX. She’s currently living her best life in the horseshoe pit on the cool sand. 😄

Farm life is a mix of long projects and simple pleasures — and Bess reminds us to make time for rest. 🐐🤎

Meet my “hens and chickens” .

A couple years ago someone gave me a small one and last year it started doing its thing - quietly spreading. And this year… the center “hen” is the biggest I’ve ever seen! I keep doing double takes when I walk past it.

What I love about these is how they grow... the main plant (the “hen”) sends out little offsets called “chicks” that cluster around it, forming these beautiful living rosettes that spread and multiply over time. They’re tough, drought tolerant, and basically thrive on neglect. Which, I absolutely LOVE!

Tell me you’re a REBEL without telling me you’re a rebel…

Here’s mine:
I distrust store bread enough to make my own.
I save seeds like a tiny garden apocalypse prepper.
I willingly milked my goats before and after work. 🤣
I made my own cheese and creamers because lactose intolerance sucks.
My main ‘shopping aisle’ during the summer is my backyard garden.
I grow my own herbs for teas and to nourish the chickens during winter.
I refuse to eat eggs out — only mine will do.
And I get WAY too excited about things like growing my own microgreens, decorating my house with flowers I grew myself, and collecting fresh eggs.
