We are weaning the late summer/autumn calves, we use nose flaps which is the quiet wean method.
The calves have a yellow plastic flap put in to their nose, which means they can no longer suckle from their Dam.
Hopefully in 6 days these calves will be happy about leaving their dams.

We are in Axbridge tomorrow for my favourite Somerset Farmers Market of the month.

It’s a market I love because the majority of the traders are primary producers of the products they sell.
For example.

Barleywood veg, they produce the most amazing organic seasonal vegetables and salads, grown on site in Wrington.

Real Pork, it’s their rare bred pork they rear outdoors and butcher themselves.

Robert Hawker, his sustainable venison, game and wild boar is not only local, but a healthy sustainable source of protein, and he butchers it himself.

It’s Beechridge Farm, the Free Range chicken that is completely different to anything you buy in the supermarket, they have their own processing plant on site so the chickens don’t even leave the farm, butchered by them and is supplied fresh to our farmers market.

It’s us with our 3 to 5 week hung beef, hand cut, hand packed, hand made burgers and sausages.

Check out the quality of this 5 week hung silverside beef joint and at only £16.50 a kg that is £2 cheaper than the supermarket’s normal price.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow.

We are open on Sunday until 11, but we hope you all enjoy your bank holiday weekend 😊
