I am sorry to have to make a list of a few ground rules for our food club.

Whitfield Food Club is open to everyone. We don't need to know anyone's circumstances or do any means test. It's a simple exchange of Ā£2. 50 for a bag of good quality food. And the shopping list is always varied and worth around Ā£20, courtesy of a registered charity Whitfield Together and very hard working volunteers.

The majority of our customers do not need a reminder are generous and kind and share fairly. But there is a minority who have caused us some hardship lately.

Firstly please. DO take as much bread as you like...we always have PLENTY of bread. In fact, whenever we have a lot of anything we always let everyone take freely. We open up food club especially for this on occasion to share anything that is available.

But please only take one of each other food item, and a fair share of fruit and veg. Then we can comfortably support up to 75 people every week.

This also applies to flowers, which are donated to us to be enjoyed by individuals, not to be taken away in bulk. One bunch a week please.

Plants in "Sue's Garden" are for everyone to enjoy. Please do not remove any plants in pots from there. Sue and other volunteers are working hard to make our garden pleasant for everyone. Two large M.and S. lavender plants were taken from the back of the garden last Sunday.

And finally please do not take hygiene items away from the toilets. They are meant for the whole community to share while with us in the centre. We provided 2 packs of nappies on Sunday and both were removed before Monday.

Hopefully this won't happen any more and we will all put our community wellbeing first.

Please, if anyone is in need of anything, please approach one of the volunteers. We will always help.
