I can’t be bothered to cook but know I have to… 😫
This is a phrase I hear a lot!
I see you... even as a pro I have those days too!
Cooking is a basic human need and therefore it's ALWAYS on the never-ending 'to-do' list... every single day! (I feel the same about laundry but that's for another time...)
So what can we do about this lurking feeling of having to do something that, quite frankly, we'd rather not do but know we have to?
I want you to try this - grab two sheets of paper and a pen. In the middle of one of the sheets draw a large circle and write "I can't be bothered to cook" in the circle. Then around the side, take a minute to quickly jot down some words or sentences that spring to mind when you say this out loud.
If you need inspiration to get your brain ticking these are some I hear all the time:
•Monotonous
•Boring
•Too much washing up
•Too much food shopping
•Not enough time
•I'd rather put my feet up
Then on the next sheet of paper write whatever springs to mind as an achievable solution to your problems on the first page. This will help change your cooking mentality from a boring chore to something you actually look forward to!
Using the examples above, the second page might look something like this:
•Monotonous - Allow for two nights off per week (check out my previous post for ways to do this!)
•Boring - Try 3 x new recipe per week or month (whichever is realistic for you)
•Too much washing up - Get someone else to wash up, put more in the dishwasher or cook more one dish meals.
•Too much food shopping - Have a look at my shopping habits (Can I do more online? Do I have to do a massive weekly shop?)
•Groundhog day - Allocate time to plan meals so can you can see how frequently you're repeating the same dishes.
•Not enough time - Focus on meals which take less than 30 minutes from start to finish
I hope this helps you and would love to hear what you come up with.
