⚠️ Website Outage Notice ⚠️

As of 15:00 today, there appears to be a worldwide Shopify outage affecting the software that powers our online store.

Customers may currently see errors such as **"Page not found"** or **"Store does not exist"** when attempting to access our website. Unfortunately, this issue is affecting Shopify-powered eCommerce stores globally and is completely outside of our control.

As a result, we are currently unable to accept new orders or manually process existing orders until service is restored.

We are actively monitoring the situation and chasing technical support for updates regarding the expected resolution time.

We appreciate this is hugely frustrating, not only for our customers but also for the thousands of businesses around the world that rely on Shopify to operate their online stores.

We will post an update in the comments as soon as the issue has been resolved.

☀️ Temporary Operating Hours – This Week Only ☀️

With temperatures forecast to reach the high 20s and low 30s this week, we're making some temporary changes to protect both our team and our bees.

🐝 Our operating hours will be 5:00am – 12:00pm for the remainder of the week while temperatures remain exceptionally high. Working colonies in full bee suits during extreme heat can be challenging and safety has to come first.

📦 In line with many other bee suppliers, we will also be temporarily suspending the dispatch of Nucs of Bees where there is a risk of overheating during transit. The welfare of the bees must always take priority.

✅ Queen Bee dispatches are unaffected and will continue as normal, with shipments leaving later in the day and additional ventilation measures in place where required.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this hot spell.

☀️ Finally... some proper beekeeping weather! ☀️

It's no secret that May has been a frustrating month for both beekeepers and bee breeders. Weeks of below-average temperatures, wind and rain have made it incredibly difficult for colonies to develop at the pace we'd normally expect.

As many of our customers know, we've taken the decision to delay a number of Spring Nucleus Colony collections and dispatches rather than send colonies before they were at the standard we'd be happy to receive ourselves. Whilst we know delays are disappointing, quality has always come before dates in our book.

The good news? The forecast for Gloucester is looking fantastic, with temperatures predicted to reach 31°C by Bank Holiday Monday! 🌞🌼

Our apiaries are already responding to the warmer conditions, forage is building rapidly, nectar is finally starting to flow, and our Spring Nucleus Colonies can at last make the progress we've all been waiting for.

Thank you to everyone who has been patient and understanding during what has been one of the most challenging starts to the season in recent years. We can't control the weather, but we can make sure we're supplying strong, healthy colonies when conditions allow.

Honey supers stacking up fast and the nectar is coming in strong 💪

Colonies booming, some already thinking about swarming, and we’re constantly chasing them with more space.

Between:
• Packing and sending equipment orders 📦
• Queen orders going out
• Nucs needing building & checking
• Production colonies needing supers
• Swarm control every spare minute
…and trying to keep on top of hundreds of emails & calls, it’s full-on this time of year.

Add family life into the mix and yeah… it’s a bit relentless 😅

But days like this make it worth it.

Absolute madness at the hive and an incredible sight to see.

📧 All order details, dispatch dates and product info are already clearly outlined in your confirmation email and your account.
📦 Stock on the website is live and accurate.

We’re currently short staffed with a newborn at home, and constantly answering the phone takes us away from actually getting your bees sorted.

🐝 A New Arrival at BS Honey Bees 🐝

We’re delighted to share the safe arrival of our beautiful baby girl, Maisie Rae Bates, born at 12:21pm on 7th April 💜

Jess did an amazing job and is doing really well, and in true beekeeping fashion Maisie picked perfect timing… right at the very start of the season when things go completely mental! I was still replying to emails not long before heading in – and of course she arrived on what felt like the hottest day of the year so far, with the phone going absolutely mad as you’d expect 😅

Millie & Teddy are completely besotted with their new little sister already.

While things might be a little busier than usual our end, please rest assured it’s business as usual. Tristan is working hard behind the scenes keeping everything running as smoothly as possible 🐝

We do appreciate your patience over the coming days while we juggle both bees and babies, thank you as always for your continued support.

🚨 Temporary Price Update – Poly Nucs 🚨

We want to be completely upfront with you all 👇

Due to the recent situation in the Middle East, we’ve seen sudden increases in:
⚡ Energy
📦 Raw materials
🚛 Freight

This has led to a temporary surcharge being applied to production of poly nucs.

👉 What this means:

Current stock = price held ✅
New stock (from end of April) = price increase ⚠️

💡 This is expected to be temporary, but we felt it was important to be transparent rather than quietly adjust pricing.

This will likely affect all poly hives & nucs across the industry, not just us.

If you’ve been thinking about getting set up, now’s the time to lock in current pricing.

Planning approved ✅🐝

Stage 2 is finally signed off by Tewkesbury Borough Council. It took its time, but we’re now good to go.

Deposit paid to the fabricators, so the building is now in production, next step is footings and getting the site ready.

More progress coming soon 💪
