The Wandering Beekeeper produces raw honey and other hive-related products in the Godalming area of Surrey. My honey is harvested by hand.

It is never heated or treated and is produced with love and kindness for the bees. ��

Today I am selling honey at the Godalming Food Festival from 10am until 4pm...it's a beautiful day and my stall is right next to The Star pub! Come down and say hello if you are around!

Today is World Bee Day! This day is an opportunity to highlight the essential role bees and other pollinators play in keeping us, and our wonderful planet, healthy.

We can all make a difference by planting pollinator-friendly plants in our gardens and open spaces, by avoiding the use of pesticides and harsh chemicals in our gardens to keep habitats safe and by, of course, supporting our local beekeepers!

(World Bee Day hasn't been universally embraced in our household - see last picture!! 😂)

100 years old today!!! Sir David Attenborough, I wish you the happiest of days as you celebrate this incredible birthday!

Sir David has had a huge impact on my life and is the reason I studied Environmental Science and Forest Conservation for my BSc & MSc. I was always allowed to stay up ”late” to watch Life on Earth and when I was 12 I used my dad's camcorder to make my own rainforest deforestation programme in my local woodland in the style of Sir David with my cuddly toys in the background as forest mammals! (Luckily that is trapped on a VHS tape somewhere in the depths of a loft space!) 🌳🌲🪓🔥🪾🪾

My ”admiration” continued and picture 1 is me with the Great Man 27 years ago! I was working and living on a wildlife rescue ship 🛥️ 🐬🦭 which had docked in Bristol at the same time as Sir David was in town doing a ”Life of Birds” 🦜 book signing. The first mate said I would lose my job if I left the ship to go and meet him. Did that stop me?! Of course not! I made a box, covered it with torn out pictures of Birds heads and filled the box with chocolate truffles that I made myself in the ship's galley. A truly terrifying-looking gift but it was graciously received by Sir David who thanked me and said ” I will enjoy those later with my tea" 😊 Friends have never let me live that meeting down....they said he would have chucked them in the bin, worried that some young woman was trying to poison him..🙄

It didn't stop there and my brilliant Mum joined in! She would write to him at any significant event in my life and he would write back with a signed picture to give me in a hand written envelope! What a wonderful man!!🥰

Later in life I had a small side-hustle making tiny silver candle holders. I crafted him a special set, together with some beeswax candles, for his 90th birthday!

Those friends that have mocked me for my devotion continue to mock me today as the final picture shows..

The planet is so lucky to have had this legend of a man fighting her corner for decades and inspiring people like me to help conserve her and all that live on her.

Happy birthday Sir David. We love you!

This is the prettiest swarm I have caught! Bees, cherry blossom and blue sky! Beautiful!

It was a tiny, "caste" swarm - a secondary, smaller swarm of bees that leaves a hive a few days after the main swarm has already departed.

They are now snuggled up in a new home in my garden where I shall look after and nurture them from now on.

I have made some lovely new, local friends too from collecting them.

Community is a lovely thing 🥰

Thank you to everyone that came to Godalmjng Spring Fair today! It was wonderful to see many of my regular customers and lovely to meet many new ones. I really do appreciate everyone's support and kind words for my small business and, as always, I am grateful to the bees for making this happen. Happy Easter to you all! Much love xx💛🐝🍯

This Saturday is the Spring Fair in Godalming. This will be the biggest fair I have attended and I am quite nervous!! I have been busily preparing for weeks and I thought I would share what's going on in the background....my lounge has been taken over with boxes and I am making sure that all my paperwork is up to date. My head is full and the cat is keeping my lap warm!

If you are free, please pop down and say hello. It's always so lovely to see your familiar faces but if you are busy elsewhere, I wish you all the happiest of Easter weekends xx

Oh at last! Blue sky and sunshine! It makes such a difference! The bees are out busily foraging...I am so happy to see them again!! Welcome back ladies... Just in time for Mothers' Day! 🐝🌸🌼
