There’s something special about the Malling Centenary strawberries coming through in the tunnels right now. They’re still green at the moment but when ripe, they will exhibit a beautiful deep red hue that tells us they are ready to eat.
We love the sense of nostalgia they bring to the farm - they are the kind of berry that stains your fingertips and tastes EXACTLY how a summer strawberry should: juicy, fragrant, and full of that old‑school flavour people always tell us they miss!
You’ll be able to pick them at their best during our Strawberry Weekend on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June, along with two varieties we’re trialling this season:
🍓Makalu: a bright, shiny fruit, with a lovely cone shape, and soft melty texture when you bite in. Sweet, but not too sweet! And we’ve also got an as‑yet‑unnamed variety that we’re still learning about, but early progress in the polytunnels looks promising. 🤞
If you enjoy picking fruit that’s been grown with care and enjoyed at peak, this weekend is a lovely opportunity to get out into our fields, pick some beautiful fruit and deepen the connection between us and the food we grow here in the UK.
🎟️Hit the link in our bio to book tickets. We’ll be sharing a view from the fields soon, plus plenty of ways to enjoy Secretts strawberries.
