🚗 🎂 HOW TO TRANSPORT & STORE YOUR CAKE DURING A HEATWAVE 🥵❌
As we are currently experiencing extremely high temperatures, I wanted to let you know how to transport your cake and store it when you get home.
Obviously, heat and cakes do not mix well!
Transport your cake in an air-conditioned car on a flat surface, and always keep out of direct sunlight.
Where possible, cool your car with the air-conditioning before placing your cake inside. If you have a big enough cool box, add ice packs for extra cooling.
Transport the cake box on a level surface (car boot or passenger footwell). If using the passenger footwell, ensure that direct sunlight isn’t on the cake. NEVER hold your cake or place it on a car seat!!
DRIVE CAREFULLY avoiding cornering too fast or braking hard and take extra care over speed bumps.
To prevent melting or collapsing, keep your cake in the coolest room in your house, away from any windows or direct heat!
You can keep a buttercream covered cake in the fridge, but be aware that there may be condensation on the surface as you bring it back to room temperature which could spoil any edible prints. Your cake will need to be taken out of the fridge at least 1-2 hours prior to serving otherwise it may appear hard/dry due to the butter in the cake.
NEVER leave your cake in a hot car, even for a short time! Take the cake straight home or to venue!
Enjoy the sun while it lasts 😎
