About Us
We are a forward-thinking 600 acre farm focused on high-quality cattle and sheep breeding. Overseen by an experienced vet, we also operate a professional cattle breeding program, offering embryo transfer services with Donor and Recipient cattle, managed in conjunction with Animal Breeding Europe.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated General Farm Worker to assist with the daily care and management of our pedigree cattle and commercial cattle and sheep. This role requires a hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a small team. There is also an exciting opportunity to gain experience in advanced breeding techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management and care of cattle and sheep, including lambing, calving, feeding, bedding, and mucking out
- General farm maintenance, such as repairing fences, checking water troughs, and handling electric fencing etc.
- Animal husbandry tasks, including tagging, dosing, bolusing and vaccinating animals.
- Potential training and involvement in embryo transfer services
Requirements:
- Prior experience in the beef and sheep industry is essential
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a sole-charge role
- Strong understanding of livestock care and farm maintenance
- Enthusiasm to learn and potentially assist in our advanced breeding operations
- Excellent attention to detail and tidiness
- Full driving licence, and prior experience of operating telehandlers and other farm machinery
