Good to have the Metcalfe boys in last night making memories to last a lifetime, what a line up with the older batch Arran 18 being the top dram on the night I would say but every whisky was top class for sure. Shout out to the guys for some great company last night, what a team🤙 Give us a message or call if you want to book an evening. Slàinte 🥃

Ok folks. We are out of town for a wee break this week in lovely Nerja. Our friend Andrew is looking after the shop on a skeleton hours scene of 12-4pm everyday to make sure nobody goes thirsty. Please note- if you need any recommendations please message me on here or on our live chat and I can help out as Andrew is pretty new to this. Go easy on him 😎Slàinte

When we heard that a delegation from Largs Academy were off to Malawi and were looking for some Scottish treats to take for their hosts we stepped in with some drams to help out a nice cause. Hopefully an amazing trip for all involved.

Great night on Friday at Gourock Bowling Club for our second big event of the year. Pictures dried up as I got sidetracked but a chance to show our crew setting up. Thanks to them and everyone involved including Mark who served up some live music afterwards. See you in August. Slàinte 🥃

Distillery/Brand: Bruichladdich
Distillery: Bruichladdich Distillery
Expression: Yellow Submarine III 14 Year Old
Spirit: Single Malt Whisky
Region: Islay
Volume: 70cl
Alcohol: 54.2% ABV
Cask: 75% First Fill Bourbon Casks & 25% French Red Wine Casks
Unpeated
Non-Chill Filtered
Natural Colour
Age Statement – 14 Years
Distilled using 100% Scottish Barley

Yellow Submarine III continues Bruichladdich’s cult Whisky of Mass Distinction series, inspired by one of the distillery’s most unusual stories. In 2005, Islay fishermen discovered a small bright yellow Ministry of Defence submarine washed up off the coast of Islay. The remotely operated vessel remained on the island until Royal Navy personnel arrived to reclaim it — with the first bottles of the original Yellow Submarine release famously presented to the crew at Bruichladdich pier.

The wider Whisky of Mass Distinction series itself began after the distillery was mistakenly flagged by US Military Intelligence as a possible site for weapons of mass destruction production, owing to large quantities of copper being delivered for distillation equipment.

This third Yellow Submarine release has been matured for its full 14 years in a combination of 75% first fill bourbon casks and 25% French red wine casks, bringing together Bruichladdich’s elegant unpeated spirit with layers of sweetness, fruit and gentle spice. Bottled at a natural 54.2% ABV, this is a richly textured and characterful Islay single malt with a distinctive story behind it.

Nose:
Beautifully balanced and rounded, honeyed oats and buttery shortbread open on the nose, with pink peppercorns and a hint of ginger punctuating this sweet character.

Palate:
Creamy crème brûlée adds to the spirit’s luxuriously smooth texture, complemented with crisp apple and pear on the palate.

Finish:
Gentle spice and toasted hazelnut settle on the finish while a hint of sea salt lingers.
