Cornish chillies began in 2014 at Grampound where we started with 150 plants. Since the beginning of 2017 we have been based in the beautiful Cornish countryside at Summercourt, midway between Newquay and Truro and have expanded to over 6000 plants

covering 50 varieties from heatless to super-hot. Using organic methods all our chillies are grown locally with a range of carefully selected varieties for flavour, heat and culinary uses. We are passionate about eating healthy, freshly grown chillies and are always happy to discuss anything to do with chillies, so do get in touch with us. We are also happy to advise on the best chillies to help you create that authentic flavour for your menu and would love to collaborate with special events such as a ‘chilli evening’ providing displays of our produce and experts on hand.

The last week has been such a blur but we have had time to reflect a little this morning whilst getting ready for another busy week of markets. RCS week is always a hectic one - it is difficult to communicate just how much work happens before we even get to the show but it is a process that begins all the way back in January starting all of our chillies for both our products and our plant sales from seed.

By now you will all know that ‘Super Saturday’, the final day of RCS that has earned its name due to the volume of business that the thousands of expected visitors bring, was cancelled due to extreme weather. While we do not disagree with the decision and the safety of traders, visitors and animals should always be put first we cannot help but feel the sting from a missed day of trading. Business of all sizes will be feeling the effects but like all clouds there was a sliver lining.

The eden project reached out to us and offered us a space to sell on Sunday and we were so grateful. You were all fantastic and showed up to try our range of chilli products and re home our farm grown chilli plants. Watching the stories emerging from other business owners whose communities showed up to buy their fresh produce or give them a space to sell was incredibly gratifying - what a wonderful part of the world we live in.

With mixed feelings we are back at the farm getting ready for another busy week of trading! We are at Truro Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday as usual, the AHC Food Festival at the Tartan Fox on Friday, Saturday and Sunday AND Looe food festival on Sunday!
