A BRIEF HISTORY

Christine and I with a scale model of the NEWBY WYKE out side the old brewery at Little Bytham behind the Willoughby Arms around 2002.

We started brewing in my garage on a two and a half barrel plant on 28/11/98 in Grantham Lincolnshire. We moved to the rear of the Willoughby Arms little Bytham in the summer of 2001 at the invertation of the then landlord Neil Salisbury. We won several CAMRA awards around this time and aquired the Trade Mark rights along with Batemans Brewery for a beer called ‘’England Expects’’. The pub was sold and the current landlord did not want a brewery there so we was forced to relocate for the second time back to Grantham in 2009.

We started prodution on 02/12/2009 on our new plant and settled down to perfect the beers to the quality they are today. We won several more awards and in 2012 for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee plus St George’s Day for the same year we brewed a beer called H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth at 6.0% ABV. This beer came under the eye of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance and we was asked the brew the beer for the launch and present the ship with a Momento from the brewery(Which I was assured will be on the ships inventory) we on the other hand was presented with the ships crest.

We go to Brno in the Czech Republic at least once a year to brew one of our beers on the Pegas Hotel brew plant which is sold in house and in bottles. We have been getting good reviews from the locals. Brno has on of the worlds most beautiful Motogp cicrcuits. It was whilst we was at one of these venues we visited the Pegas Hotel and I introduced my self to the then brewer Jiri it all started and we became good friends with him and the owner as well as the staff. Lovely people.
