Our new Crafter of the Month for September at Great Paxton Village Shop is Sleeping Cat Wax Melts. All manner of wax melts, diffusers, candles and other fragrant delights for your home. Ideally placed for a quick pull off from the High Street in the Bell car park as you pass through the village.

Great Paxton Shop is community run for our community, for everyday essentials, last minute emergencies and treats too. We have been trying to train the sweets and cakes not to wink at passing customers but they still insist on doing it.

Do you have an upcoming public event in Great Paxton? Post it to the new Events Page on the shop website.

Facebook is great for getting the message out there but posts disappear down the page very quickly and need to refreshed and repeated, and have you tried to find that post again that you saw a couple of days ago that now seems to have disappeared?

A static post on a webpage makes it easier to find using Google or other search engines, easier to look for rather than just relying on stumbling across by accident.

Book swap at Great Paxton shop. We've a regularly changing collection of books for just £1 or 50p each, drop your unwanted ones off and/or pick up a new read. Books in good condition are always needed if you're having a clear out, will you ever read that book again that you've just finished? Like a library but open 7 days a week and on your doorstep!

You don't need to consume your purchase "on the go", have a bit of a sit and watch the world go by, take as long as you like no one's going to hurry you. Whether it's a treat after a kick around, a chat with others or just a bit of "you" time when no-one else is sure where you are, everything is better when you take a break to appreciate it. Greeting cards and gift bags from your village shop. We've just had a new delivery of cards from the excellent Whistlefish, and they are just £2 each! (we also have a selection at £1 each). Cards at a lower cost than just about anywhere and on your doorstep. While you're at it, pick up a gift bag for the present, much easier than wrapping paper.

Volunteer Power Fridge might not actually be the what3words location of our new fridge but it wouldn't have got there without a community effort to get it through the door or that applied for the grant that was awarded by Cotton Farm Wind Farm that paid for it. So thanks to the people who got it through the door, put it in place and stocked it and to Stephen for putting the successful grant application in.
