Our Story

Our award-winning BigFish range is made with care by our family-owned firm in Grimsby. We buy responsibly-sourced salmon and other fish direct from carefully selected producers that we know and trust.

Our company is owned and run by the Coulbeck family. Founded in 2000, it was set up by husband and wife team, Andrew and Louise, who both come from fish-expert families and were born and bred in Grimsby, Britain's seafood town.

The idea behind our business was to make farmed salmon more accessible to everyone. It grew naturally out of our family involvement in the local seafood industry and Andrew had gained a lot of knowledge and experience during his early career from renowned salmon expert, Jack Carlisle Smith. So a new business focused on farmed salmon seemed like an obvious idea. We even named it JCS in honour of Andrew's early mentor!

Our first customers were catering companies, but BigFish soon followed. With its delicious salmon and sea trout products in distinctive black packs, BigFish has rapidly become established in farm shops, independent retailers and online.
