Welcome back to an old favourite: Spicy Tomato Chutney, which I haven't made for 4 years. Our tomatoes this year are abundant! The recipe includes garam masala, nigella seeds and fiery hot chillies. Production is going into overdrive now, as fruit it literally falling off the trees. Here's where you can buy my preserves in the Guildford area. I'll be in Portsmouth Road, Guildford on Saturday 29th August for a Community Fun Day with fun and games, a petting zoo, face painting, magic show and local stalls. Then in Onslow Village Autumn Fair on Saturday 20th September. If you can't make it to either of those, send me a message and buy directly from my place in Stoughton. Jackie.

This is a very good year for figs in southern England, and I've been grateful to receive them from 3 local trees. So, coming soon, a new product for Sister's Preserves... Fig Jam. I found a simple, traditional French recipe and I'm very pleased with the resulting flavour. Try it on a crusty, buttered baguette and pretend you're on holiday in the south of France!
Later on (after it has matured in the jars) there will be Figgy Chutney; a rich and sweet chutney with ginger that pairs well with goats cheese or roast ham.

New flavour for this summer - redcurrant jelly, made with local redcurrants, British sugar and filtered water, nothing else. Traditionally eaten with lamb or stirred into gravy to add a rich sweetness; spread it on crusty bread for a French-style breakfast, or add as a topping to cheese-cake or ice-cream.

Come along this Saturday; this is a really lovely event; a very traditional English village fair with lots of fun things...
