Thank you so much to Prunotto and Berkmann W**e Cellars for the most wonderful three days spent in Piedmont enjoying the exceptional w**e and food of the region. It was joyful spending time in the beautiful rolling countryside of the Langhe region in the company of a great group of people.

Over the last few weeks we've been hard at work creating something quite exciting - a shopping app that puts Ta**us W**es right where you need us - on your phone's home screen. So, for those of you who like shopping while on the go, there'll be no more trying to remember our URL or finding the saved page somewhere in your tabs - it'll be right there when you open your phone.

And what's more, the app is linked to our website, so once you log in, all of your previous orders and customer website history will be at your fingertips - so you can keep 'favouriting' w**es you like and easily repeat an order. Transactions are safely dealt with via ShopPay and Apple or Google Pay, so you know your confidential details are safe, too.

Navigation is also easy, with a drop-down menu taking you straight to the most popular categories, plus your basket, your account and your previous orders. And once you're browsing the categories, you can sort the w**es into price, A-Z and newest/oldest listed order to help you find the one you want - and failing that, the search bar at the top of the home page will take you straight to your favourite w**e.

Events, vouchers and en primeur w**e can all be bought via the app, and locals can select 'pick up from store' at the check out to avoid the usual delivery charges.

It might be the height of summer out there, but at Ta**us W**es HQ we’re planning an autumn of fabulous tastings. Our first three dates have just been released: a w**emaker dinner with Elena Brooks from Dandelion Vineyards in Australia (you’ll go home with a complimentary half bottle of her flagship Shiraz too), a masterclass courtesy of RIEDEL glassware that includes all the glasses you taste from on the night, and one of our ever-popular walkabout fine w**e tastings.

Very honoured to have hosted both Symington Group CEO Rupert Symington and Head of Sales Anthony Symington to give our customers a masterclass on the newly released 2024 Port vintage. What made this even more special was that this event was the first time retail customers had been able to sample the vintage anywhere in the world!

The Symington group is the titan of the port industry, owning Graham’s, Dow’s, Warres’s, Cockburn’s, and Quinta do Vesuvio. Rupert and Anthony’s obvious pride in five generations of family heritage port-making was a joy to see.

We learnt about the traditions of vintage port, including the use of horses in the vineyard (the ancient vines are planted very close together on slopes that are too steep for tractors) and of course, the treading of grapes by foot.

But 2024 is pretty extraordinary… there hasn’t been a vintage port declared since 2017, making it the longest gap between vintages since WWII. And well worth the wait! Experts are comparing it to 1945 and 2011 (the greatest vintages of all time). We’ll be sending out our offers in the coming days in case you’d like to try for yourself…
