A quick round-up from a rather full weekend.

World Gin Day next door at Silent Pool, a country fair, two catered events, countless cups of chai, and so many lovely faces.

Thank you to everyone who came by, ate with us, trusted us with their celebrations, or simply popped in for a samosa and a chat.

We are ending the weekend tired, happy and very grateful.

Now for a strong cup of tea. Then we go again.

Of all the neighbours to have, being next door to one of the best gin distilleries is not a bad lot in life.

So, World Gin Day is always a little bit special for us at Mandira’s Kitchen too.

This weekend, Silent Pool will be celebrating all things gin, and we’ll be right here next door with the food, chai, samosas and all the good things that make a proper day of it.

Come for the gin.
Stay for the food.

We’ll be open as usual, keeping everyone fed and very happily part of the World Gin Day madness.

Today was not quite our usual Tuesday lunch service. There were cameras, cables, a very special guest and the usual MK madness, just with extra people holding very serious equipment.

To everyone who came for lunch, thank you. Thank you for turning up, for smiling through the chaos, for being patient, kind and very much part of the story. Your presence meant a great deal to us.

We cannot say too much yet, but when we have a date, we will let you know.

And who knows, you may even spot yourself on screen.

This week’s thali is very close to my heart.

Zulfi has taken some of my favourite Calcutta recipes, translated all my vague “a bit more like this” instructions, and somehow recreated them beautifully.
