Children rarely need us to have all the answers.

More often, they need adults who feel safe to be around.

A calm voice.
A predictable response.
Someone who notices the small things.

At Elysian, we see every day how relationships, nature, animals and therapeutic education can help young people begin to feel safer, more confident and more able to engage again.

Sometimes the biggest changes start with very small moments.

Which one stood out most to you?

Recently at Elysian…

Here’s a glimpse into some of the activities our students have been involved in this week.
In Outdoor Learning, we developed our bushcraft skills and learned how to build a simple shelter.
In Animal Care, our sheep at Liss had a shear to ensure they stay cool, happy, and comfortable.
In Art, we used mosaic tiles to design retro space invaders alongside our own unique patterns.
In History, we explored the evolution of equestrian equipment by comparing old horse bits to modern ones.
In Maths, we made learning tactile by practising our square numbers using Lego bricks.
In Science, we got hands-on with nature by taking and analysing various soil samples.

Thanks for watching!

Important Changes to Children’s Safeguarding and Education

The new Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act has now received Royal Assent and will be introduced in stages over the coming months.

It includes a number of important changes aimed at improving safeguarding and making sure vulnerable children do not fall through the gaps between services.

Some of the key changes include:

• Better information sharing between schools and children’s social care
• A stronger formal role for education within local safeguarding arrangements
• New registers for children not in school, including those who are home educated
• Additional checks before some children can be withdrawn from school
• Expanded breakfast clubs and wider free school meal eligibility

One disappointing aspect is that education providers have still not been given equal statutory status alongside social care, health and police, despite the fact that we are often the first place concerns are noticed.

At Elysian, safeguarding sits at the centre of everything we do, so we welcome any changes that help services work together more effectively to protect children and young people.

If you are a parent, educator or professional working with children, this is worth a read:

The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act introduces a wide variety of measures to help children and families, from the cost of living and school reform to home education to safeguarding. But how will this impact your family? Find out here. What

At Elysian, teaching is different.

Our teachers work in small, highly relational environments where animals, nature and outdoor learning are woven into the curriculum. We support children and young people with SEND, SEMH and a wide range of complex needs, many of whom have become disengaged from mainstream education.

This is a role for someone who:

* Understands safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
* Is comfortable working in an outdoor, farm-based environment
* Wants to make a genuine difference every day

You will have the opportunity to:

* Teach in a truly unique therapeutic setting
* Work with small groups of young people
* Design engaging, individualised learning programmes
* Integrate animals, nature and practical experiences into learning
* Be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team

Our teaching position is for qualified teachers, however depending on experience and expertise, we will accept applications from unqualified teachers.
