We would like to share some exciting news on behalf of PureMalt products with all our lovely customers.
An invitation to Haddington: come and see our plans for the empty offices on Whittingehame Drive. Most people in Haddington will have walked or driven past the empty offices on Whittingehame Drive.
They're ours — we moved out a few years ago and they've been sitting there since. We've been
thinking about what to do with them.
Our plan is to take them down and build something new in their place: indoor padel courts and a co-working space for local people and small businesses, with a permanent home for Caffè Luca — whose van some of you will already know from the site.
What we want it to be is a space the town actually uses. The cafe would be open to anyone, whether
you're playing or not. The co-working space is for people currently working from a kitchen table, or
driving into Edinburgh to sit at a desk. And it would give Haddington somewhere warm and indoors to meet in the middle of winter.
Padel, if you haven't come across it, is a doubles racket sport played on an enclosed court. Somewhere between tennis and squash, easy to pick up, and one of the fastest-growing sports in the country at the moment.
Before we submit a planning application, we'd like to show the proposals to the community and hear what you think. So we're holding two drop-in sessions:
Thursday 24 September, 5pm – 8pm
Saturday 26 September, 10am – 1pm
The Lammermuir Suite, PureMalt Products, Victoria Bridge, Haddington EH41 4BD. There's parking on site.
No presentation and no need to book — just drop in whenever suits, have a look at the plans, design,
parking and access, opening hours, lighting and noise.
Nothing is fixed yet, which is the point of doing this now. If there's something you think we've got
wrong, or something you'd want to see included, we'd rather hear it from you before we apply than
after.
Can't make either date? You can register for project updates at thetraprainclub.com . PureMalt has been in Haddington since 1972 and we're not going anywhere. We look out at that empty building every day, and we'd rather see it become something the town gets the use of than leave it to
sit.
