1972 HIGHLAND PARK 24 from The Bottlers. Old whisky yes, but young enough to have the perfect balance of island peat & heather honey & delicate spice and a little fruit and flowers. Certainly this deserves its reputation and will be enjoyed by those happy few ECWC members who are attending our HP #4 tasting in a couple of weeks time.

One of this year’s standout drams, a classic modern bourbon - lovely balanced smoke, delicious tropical fruit, sea salt and memories. Enjoy!!

There was a time when I posted every day…this was the one to get me back to the table!! Brand new single cask, the first from their new distillery manager Bryony McNiven and what a cracker it is, 2011 MARSALA BARRIQUE balanced and integrated with the wonderful spirt - smoked dark chocolate blood orange and nougat, WOW!! Get this if you can.

Some special drams over the last few days. That distillery only bottle, magma, Ledaig 1998 (best bottle ever under £400?) distillery only edition, finishing up with a Ledaig 10 outside the local pub looking across to Iona. Lots of ideas for next year!!

A very special Cragganmore 40, for our very special Cragganmore 3 tasting online on Friday 12th June 2026. For more info head to the website. Anyway this may well be one of the best drams distilled in the ‘80s, fruity, spicey, honey, lusciousness. Come get some.

Cracking new dram from TALISKER 21 with Port Cask finish just out, and very tasty it is too. Loving the cross between classic Talisker and your special bbq, also has some great fruit too. Looking forward to seeing how this develops as the bottle goes down!!

A dram that tastes as good as it looks!! This excellent CRAGGANMORE 35 has travelled from Scotland to Hong Kong and back again, facilitated by an member. All credit to Kanpaikai & .mo for selecting such an exquisite cask. I’m looking forward to featuring in our second later in 2026, hopefully!! We had such a great visit and tasting there back in 2023. Anyway let’s drink to peace and peace this evening.
