CHEESE OF THE MONTH 🧀✨ Say hello to our September star — Wyngaard Goat Gouda. 🇳🇱🐐

Smooth, creamy and wonderfully approachable, it has all the sweetness of a classic Gouda with a lighter, more delicate character. Expect notes of walnut, creme fraiche and soft caramel, with none of the strong “goaty” flavour you might expect. 😍

If you love Gouda but fancy discovering something a little different, this is one to try. 💛

Available throughout September in Haddington, North Berwick and online at thecheeselady.co.uk

My favourite way to eat Burrata? For breakfast. 😍🤍

Creamy Burrata, a generous drizzle of chestnut honey and fresh fruit salad. 🍯🍓🍑

Simple, indulgent and an excellent reason to have cheese before 10am. 😉🧀

Would you try Burrata for breakfast? 👇😍

If you haven’t tried Roquefort with Sauternes, you haven’t lived… 🧀🍷

The salty intensity of a great Roquefort with the luscious sweetness of Sauternes is one of those classic pairings that makes both taste even better.

It changed my mind about both blue cheese and sweet wine 20 years ago. Try it with Le Vieux Berger and you might just see why.

DID YOU KNOW? 🤓 Not all blue cheeses use the same blue mould! 🧀💙🤯

Gorgonzola has traditionally been made using Penicillium glaucum, rather than Penicillium roqueforti, the mould commonly associated with many other famous blue cheeses.

It’s one of the reasons Gorgonzola Dolce has such a wonderfully gentle blue character. Think creamy, sweet and buttery, with a soft blue tang rather than a fierce peppery bite. 😍✨

A little cheese science behind one of Italy’s great classics. 🇮🇹🧀

Why is this Italian cheese covered in hay? 🧀🌾

Capra Fieno draws on an old tradition of ageing cheeses in hay — a practice with roots in the days when farmers would protect or hide their precious provisions in haystacks and other unlikely places.

Today, it’s done quite deliberately… and to delicious effect.

WHO IS THE CHEESE LADY? 🧀

We’re an independent British business, proudly based in East Lothian, Scotland, with shops in Haddington and North Berwick and online customers across the UK. ✨🙌

What started with one woman’s slightly obsessive love of great farmhouse and artisan cheese has grown into a wonderful team of cheese people, two shops and a thriving online business. 🧀🎁💫

We employ locally, support independent producers and love being part of the communities around us. 🙌✨

But after all these years, the idea behind The Cheese Lady remains very simple: we find exceptional cheese, look after it properly, and share it with people who appreciate just how wonderful good cheese can be. Because great cheese is also about slowing down, sharing a moment and enjoying one of life’s simple pleasures. 🧀🥂

That’s us. ❤️

What would you drink with Paddy’s Milestone? 🧀🥂

With its mushroomy rind, creamy layer and fresh, moussey centre, this is a cheese that calls for something light and summery.

Think crisp white or rosé, a little sparkle from Prosecco or Cava… or even a refreshing wheat beer.

Plenty of delicious experimenting to be done!

Roquefort as it should be… 🧀🇫🇷

Le Vieux Berger comes from Maison Combes, the smallest of all Roquefort producers, where this legendary cheese is still made with a deep respect for tradition.

And it’s never vacuum-packed. Ours is always cut fresh from the wheel.

A very special Roquefort from a very special little house.

Fancy something a little off the beaten track? 🇫🇷🥂✨

Our French season isn’t just about the classics. Roussette de Savoie ‘Frangy’ from Bruno Lupin is one for those who love discovering something a little different. 💛

Made high in the French Alps from the local Altesse grape, it’s soft and elegant with beautiful notes of pear, honey, spice and a touch of gingerbread. 🍐🍯

Unusual, delicious and absolutely worth discovering, especially alongside a good Alpine cheese. 🧀🏔️

Available in our Haddington shop and at thecheeselady.co.uk.
