I Talk about how we are turning recycled coffee grounds into alcohol across Brighton, Hove, and London. How used coffee grounds are collected, brought back to our distillery, and transformed into Realizzato giving waste a second life.

It's a brilliant read for anyone who likes scientific discoveries, and what this can deliver.

Rob detailed how he created the world’s most , and sustainable by discovering the first method globally, in over 400 years, of industrially alcohol from a new ingredient. This involved 11 years of research including reviewing experiments from a book originally published in 1651.

Preparations are in full flow for COP30, November 2025 in Brazil. Whilst the world is finding out how CO2e is going to be reduced across the world, Murray & Yeatman holds the key to reducing one of the biggest contributors to landfill – used coffee grounds. 6 million tons of spent coffee grounds (SCG) are produced annually worldwide, releasing 6 million tons of CO2e into the atmosphere each year. That problem is now sorted with Realizzato, the coffee liqueur that is made from upcycled coffee grounds.

Nus Ghani MP, parliamentary representative for Sussex Weald, finding out how Rob Murray, CEO, Murray & Yeatman, discovered how to distil alcohol from upcycled coffee grounds and scale up the process to create Realizzato, the coffee liqueur.

The UK produces an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 tonnes of coffee grounds each year. This waste is often sent to landfill, where it can contribute to greenhouse gas emissions
