Our Story

Pride & Provenance is a independent family owned café wine bar which opened in July 2018 just outside the South Gate of The Piece Hall in Halifax.

Why Pride & Provenance? Simple, we take the upmost pride in everything we do whether that be sourcing the very best producers and suppliers to delivering great service in beautiful surroundings.

As for provenance, we are passionate about where our produce comes from and we ensure that there is clear trace-ability from farm to fork. We believe that our trust in these values ensures a great experience for our guests.

We source our charcuterie from the very best UK artisan producers who produce really wows us. In addition we also source our cheese from the best artisan cheese mongers and fine food merchants within the UK and beyond. It is our ambition to bring exciting flavours and food experiences for our customers to enjoy and explore.

We have a selection of cakes and traybakes baked by G’s Cakes, which are a family business with a passion for baking based in The Piece Hall.

Our sourdough is baked by local artisan bakers with a passion for making real bread.

Our wines come from Spen Valley Wines who provide an excellent individual service, based on specialist knowledge and access to a larger range of more interesting wines, thanks to their independent status. We work with Martin to host Call My Bluff Wine Tasting Events at Pride & Provenance which sell out weeks in advance and from time to time have special producer wine tasting events.

Our coffee is from Dark Woods Coffee which is is an adventurous coffee roaster, Barista school, and pop-up café nestled on the edge of Marsden village in the West Yorkshire Pennines. They roast their coffee by hand on a 1950’s Probat drum roaster in a beautifully refurbished Victorian textile mill beside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and River Colne. The dramatic, windswept valley inspires the mood and flavours of their exceptional seasonal coffees.

We were delighted to be nominated for two awards in the 2019 Yorkshire Choice Awards, a celebration of business and inspirational individuals in Yorkshire. After only 7 months of trading, we were awarded finalist status in the Customer Service Award. We are nominated for two awards in the 2020 awards for Customer Service Award and New Starter Business.
