We are thinking about offering some experiences with our weaned calves in the last 2 weekends of November and the first 2 weekends of December if there is any interest? Come meet the fold and then spend some time grooming and walking the calves. Get in touch if you would like to book on ☺️

We are VERY happy with our new shed that will make life a lot easier to winter steers, our bull and the day to day handling of the fold. Now just need to make sure it doesn’t end up with any tractors stored in it 🤣 Thank you N Grainger Agricultural building contractor for your super work!

Yesterday we weaned the 6 calves, ready to give the mums a break before most of them have another calf next spring. Annoyingly it’s unseasonably warm so we’ve got the fans going and there’s plenty of wind going through too. It’s noisy but should settle over the next few days. All are eating so I know they aren’t overly stressed. Soon we will be starting to prep for the winter calf shows!

A few videos from show prep and show day at Ripley Show today! Great day for us with Freya coming first in cow class, Dougie coming first in calf class, Orla coming 3rd in 2 year old class and Suzie coming first in yearling class. Suzie then went on to win reserve champion 🏵️ we’ve got a 5 week break from showing now and then we’re back for Nidderdale show late September

Scanning 2026 is complete! We have 4 out of our 6 girls this year have scanned in calf. 1 we were expecting as she was in season on Friday 🙃 so could still be in calf and will be checked at a later date. 1 we were not expecting but she missed a year between this calf and her last so she might be an every other year kinda gal 🤣 we feel like the ridiculously warm weather has had a big impact on our girls and our bull this year as there are big gaps between calves that coincide with the really hot spells, annoyingly for us! But next year we will tweak things to try and counteract all the curveballs we’ve been thrown this year ☺️

Ginni and Orla… Then and now. These girls were our first calves in 2024 and are now fantastic 2 year olds. Ginni still tries to get in the garden when she can 🙃 excited to see what they produce when they go to the bull next year 😍 🐂

A rather warm day at Honely show today. Thank goodness for the fans and the tent! A first for Ginni in the 2 year old class, a second for Maisie in the cow class, a second for Bonnie in the calf class and a fourth for Suzie in the yearling class! A solid start to the season…bring on the Yorkshire show! 🐂

We had a little surprise this week…Evie, who we didn’t think was in calf as she was scanned empty after a forbidden affair with the bull last year 🤣, decided to drop a bull calf! Now Evie is not the friendliest of cows and has given Fred some nasty kicks over the years, so we were not thrilled that she needed some help with her calving 🫠 anyway, alls well that ends well and this little bull is up and thriving after some help getting going. Name suggestions greatly appreciated as I’m all out of bull names this year 🤣
