I created our Ihaw Ihaw BBQ Sauce to capture one of the flavours I miss most from Manila — street barbecue straight from the charcoal grill. 🔥

In the Philippines, skewered barbecue is everywhere. You’ll see street vendors lined up grilling pork, chicken and all sorts of skewers, with that unmistakable sweet-savoury flavour and smoky char from the coals.

The challenge was bringing that same feeling into a bottle here in the UK — because barbecue weather isn’t always guaranteed.

So I wanted the sauce to give you that flavour even when the rain arrives.

For me, Ihaw Ihaw tastes like sunshine, days at the beach and family gatherings around the grill.

Brush it on, marinate with it, glaze while cooking or simply drizzle over your food.

Ihaw Ihaw BBQ Sauce is available to order online. Link in profile.

We came home from the market absolutely shattered and had no intention of properly cooking.

So I did as I preach — use what you have.

We’d picked up some lovely bread, cheese and salad tomatoes from fellow traders. I had a jar of roasted peppers in the cupboard, plus some leftover chicken adobo tasters from the market.

Waste not, want not.

A little chopping, a little assembling, and suddenly we were recreating a bit of our San Sebastián experience at home — chicken adobo pintxos, roast pepper and Brie topped with tamarind jam, and whatever else we could build from what was around.

Then we opened a nice bottle of white wine, sat in the garden with the sun going down, and exchanged stories from the market day.

Nothing elaborate. Just good food, good wine and that lovely feeling of finally sitting down after a long weekend.

And that’s another market weekend done.

We start again next weekend.

Our flagship Adobo Sauce — and the recipe that started with my family. 🇵🇭

In the Philippines, every family has their own way of making adobo. Every region has its own version too. This jar is based on my family’s recipe, made easy for busy kitchens.

And no — Filipino adobo isn’t naturally spicy! It’s different from Mexican or Spanish adobo. But if you like heat, add chilli. Or make it your own with coconut milk, lemongrass or your favourite vegetables.

A few easy ways to cook with it:

🥩 Meat: 1 jar for around 500g
🍆 Aubergine & vegetables: start with ½ jar
🐟 Fish: lightly fry first, then pour over ½ jar

Serve with rice and fresh tomatoes for a simple, satisfying meal. One jar can serve around 4–6 people, depending on what you're cooking.

The sauce does the heavy lifting — so you can put a flavour-packed meal on the table without breaking a sweat. And one of our favourite bits of customer feedback? Kids love it too!

There may be a thousand and one ways to cook adobo. This is ours. ❤️

We came home from San Sebastián recently, and we came home with a notebook full of ideas… and one question:

What if Spain's famous pintxos met the bold flavours of the Philippines?

That simple question became Pinxtos à la Filipinas*.

Inspired by the pintxos bars of San Sebastián—where every bar proudly serves its own speciality—we created five Filipino-inspired bites celebrating two food cultures that share a love of great ingredients, generous hospitality and food made for sharing.

✨ Adobo Pintxos
🐟 Kinilaw Pintxos
🧀 Cheese Pimiento Pintxos
🌭 Longganisa Pintxos
🍆 Tortang Talong Pintxos

Which one would you try first?

This Week’s Top Recipe Pick 🌶️

Chilli-Garlic Burrata Smash — creamy, savoury, gently spicy and ridiculously easy.

Soft, molten burrata meets the bold, savoury heat of our Gold award-winning Filipino Garlic Chilli Paste. Add crusty bread and you’ve got a seriously impressive sharing dish with hardly any work.

Just 2 main ingredients and 20 minutes — ideal for wine nights, sharing plates, dinner parties or when you want something that looks far more complicated than it actually is.
