🥂👔 Like Father, Like Wine 👔🥂

Father’s Day is on the horizon, and if you’re searching for a gift that says “thank you” for all the advice, support, patience (and questionable jokes), we think a great bottle of wine is a pretty good place to start.

After all, some things only get better with time. 🍷

✨ 2022 Organic Chianti Classico – Tenuta Ormanni, Tuscany ✨

From one of Chianti Classico’s historic estates, this organic Sangiovese is a wonderful example of why Tuscany remains one of the world’s great wine regions. Crafted with care at Tenuta Ormanni, it combines tradition, character and effortless drinkability in equal measure.

🍒 In the glass:
Brilliant ruby red with inviting aromas of ripe cherry, redcurrant, sweet herbs, cedar and gentle spice. The palate is beautifully balanced, with soft tannins, vibrant fruit and a fresh, lingering finish.

💙 Why it’s perfect for Dad:
Dependable, full of character and quietly impressive. This is a wine that doesn’t need to shout to make its presence known. Thoughtful, authentic and made to be enjoyed around the table with family and friends.

🍽 Perfect pairings:
🥩 Roast beef or grilled steak
🍝 Hearty pasta dishes and rich ragùs
🧀 Mature cheeses and charcuterie
🔥 Summer barbecues with family and friends

Produced from organically grown Sangiovese on the clay-limestone soils of Barberino Val d’Elsa, this is a wine that reflects both its heritage and its place — much like the fathers and father figures we celebrate.

Whether you're raising a glass to Dad, Grandad, a stepdad, or someone who's always been there when it mattered, here's to the people who help shape us, guide us and support us along the way.

🍷 Like Father, Like Wine — full of character, built to last, and always appreciated. 🍷👔

🍷🚨 IT'S BACK... BUT POSSIBLY NOT FOR LONG!

2023 Olbieta Negre – Marco Abella | Terra Alta, Catalonia
From just £14.40 a bottle in a case deal

The first shipment landed... and disappeared in a matter of hours.

We've managed to secure more stock of this stunning Spanish red, but if you missed out last time, we'd strongly suggest not hanging about. Both George and Mark absolutely love it — and judging by how quickly the first allocation vanished, plenty of you do too.

🍇 About the Wine

Produced by Marco Abella, this vibrant Mediterranean red comes from high-altitude vineyards in Terra Alta, one of Catalonia's most exciting wine regions.

Made from 80% Grenache, 15% Carignan and 5% Syrah, each variety is fermented separately before a short period of ageing in French oak. The result is a wine that combines Mediterranean warmth with remarkable freshness and elegance.

🌍 Why Terra Alta?

Situated inland from the Mediterranean, Terra Alta's warm days and cool nights allow grapes to ripen fully whilst retaining freshness and aromatic complexity.

The limestone-rich soils and elevated vineyards help produce wines with both generosity and energy — a combination that's making the region increasingly popular with wine lovers.

👃 Tasting Notes

🍒 Ripe cherries & red berries
🍓 Wild strawberries
🌿 Subtle herbal & balsamic notes
✨ Gentle spice from oak ageing

Fresh, vibrant and wonderfully drinkable, with juicy fruit, supple texture and an elegant, balanced finish.

There is a simplicity to great Gavi that is easy to underestimate. No oak, no excess weight, no winemaking tricks — just purity, freshness and a clear expression of place.

🍽 Perfect with the Season

🥃🏴 'COME TOGETHER & CELEBRATE'

Glencadam Origin 1825 – Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Scotland waited nearly three decades for another World Cup appearance. Glencadam, meanwhile, has been quietly perfecting whisky since 1825!

With the Scottish Government requesting a special Bank Holiday so the nation could "come together and celebrate" — and His Majesty approving it — this latest arrival at Baythorne feels rather well timed.

Whether you're celebrating the result, recovering from the celebrations, or simply enjoying an extra day off, a fine Highland dram seems entirely appropriate.

🥃 About the Whisky

Named after the year the distillery was founded, Glencadam Origin 1825 is matured initially in ex-bourbon casks before spending time in Oloroso sherry casks.

The result is a wonderfully approachable Highland single malt that combines Glencadam's trademark silky texture with the richer fruit and gentle spice that sherry cask maturation brings.

🌍 Why Glencadam?

Located in the historic Angus town of Brechin, Glencadam is one of the few surviving distilleries from Scotland's great whisky expansion of the early nineteenth century.

Unlike some of the heavier Highland styles, Glencadam is celebrated for its elegant, fruit-forward spirit, allowing the character of the casks to complement rather than dominate the whisky.

👃 Tasting Notes

🍐 Orchard fruits
🍍 Cooked tropical fruits
🍯 Vanilla sweetness
✨ Gentle baking spice
🌰 A touch of nuttiness from the Oloroso casks

The palate is soft, rounded and wonderfully smooth, building layers of fruit and spice before a long, warming finish.

🥃 Perfect For

🔥 A Bank Holiday evening dram
⚽ Replaying the highlights from last night
🧀 A cheeseboard after supper
🎁 Gifting to the whisky lover who thinks they've tried everything

At this price point, we suspect this may become a firm favourite. One bottle for yourself and one for the whisky cupboard might not be the worst idea.

🍷 In The Know

2019 Le Logis de la Bouchardière Chinon ‘Les Clos’ – Serge et Bruno Sourdais, Loire Valley, France

“For its quality, Chinon is absurdly undervalued.”

It’s a statement you’ll hear time and again from wine lovers, and after spending time with this superb bottle from Serge et Bruno Sourdais, it’s hard to disagree.

If you’re looking for a red that delivers character, authenticity and ageing potential without demanding a premium price tag, Chinon should be firmly on your radar. Made almost exclusively from Cabernet Franc, the best examples combine vibrant fruit, freshness and structure in a way few regions can match.

This wine comes from the renowned “Les Clos” parcel, where 60–70 year old vines grow on south-facing slopes rich in clay, silica and flint. The result is a Chinon with real depth and concentration that beautifully expresses its terroir.

✨ Tasting Notes

Deep and vivid in colour, with aromas of ripe red and dark berries layered with subtle spice and hints of undergrowth. The palate is full and fleshy, with concentrated fruit supported by firm, well-defined tannins. Powerful yet balanced, with complexity building through to a long, structured finish.

🌿 About the Producer

Serge et Bruno Sourdais are highly respected growers whose old-vine Cabernet Franc vineyards consistently produce some of the appellation’s most compelling wines. Careful vineyard management, extended fermentation and maturation in large oak vessels allow the character of the fruit and site to take centre stage.

🍽️ Seasonal Food Pairings

As we move through June and into July, this is a superb partner for barbecued steak, grilled lamb cutlets, duck breast or rosemary-marinated chicken. It also works beautifully with charcuterie boards, mushroom dishes and mature goat’s cheese enjoyed outdoors on a warm summer evening.

If your wine rack already contains plenty of Bordeaux, Chinon may just be one of France’s best-kept secrets — elegant, food-friendly and remarkably good value.

🍯🥂 Drink Chenin Blanc Day – The Chameleon of the Wine World 🥂🍯

Celebrated every year on the second weekend of June, Drink Chenin Blanc Day shines a spotlight on one of the world's most versatile grape varieties — capable of producing everything from bone-dry, mineral whites and elegant sparkling wines to luscious dessert wines bursting with honeyed complexity.

Originally from France's Loire Valley, Chenin Blanc has found a second home in South Africa, which today produces more Chenin Blanc than any other country and has helped establish the grape as one of the most exciting white wine varieties on the planet.

🍷 Featured Wine

2023 Chenin Blanc
Holden Manz, Franschhoek, South Africa

This beautifully crafted Chenin Blanc comes from 35-year-old bush vines in the spectacular Franschhoek Valley, where careful vineyard management and cool morning harvesting help preserve freshness and purity of fruit.

👃 In the glass

Pale lemon in colour with an elegant, perfumed nose of citrus, white flowers, jasmine and white peach. The palate is beautifully balanced, offering refreshing acidity alongside flavours of pear, melon and lemon, finishing with subtle texture and impressive length.

🍇 Why this style works

Wild fermentation brings character and complexity, while six months on the fine lees adds texture and depth. A combination of stainless steel and French oak fermentation enhances the wine without overwhelming its vibrant fruit expression.

🍽 Perfect Pairings

• Lightly spiced calamari salad
• Herb-crusted goat's cheese
• Fresh baguette and soft cheeses
• Summer salads and alfresco lunches

💡 Did you know?

Wine lovers often call Chenin Blanc the "chameleon grape" because it can produce an astonishing range of styles while retaining its hallmark freshness and vibrant acidity. Few varieties can move so effortlessly from sparkling to dry, off-dry and sweet wines.

Tomorrow is National Rosé Day — the perfect excuse to take a fresh look at one of the wine world's most versatile styles.

A kaleidoscope of colour, texture, aroma and character, few wine styles are as varied — or as misunderstood — as rosé.

Far from being a single style, rosé can be pale and delicate, vibrant and fruity, crisp and mineral, or richly textured and gastronomic. Its colour, flavour and character are shaped by grape variety, place and winemaking tradition.

To celebrate National Rosé Day, we're shining a light on our Six of the Best – Rosé Mixed Case — a curated collection showcasing just how diverse and delicious rosé can be. Now £83, saving 10%.

From the understated elegance of Provence and the bright fruit of English Pinot Noir Rosé, to the sun-drenched charm of Sicily and the Mediterranean coast, each bottle offers a different perspective on one of the wine world's most versatile styles.

Perfect for garden lunches, summer suppers, spontaneous gatherings and sunny afternoons that stretch into evening.

A Kaleidoscope of Taste.
