Good morning from the pig shed! Rosie has had a busy night and at 3am delivered her final piglet 🐷

On Saturday we will open the barn for visitors but today it is really important that our big girl finds her feet (or more importantly - stays off them!) we want Rosie to spend the day laying down and feeding the piglets whilst they get a bit stronger and learn to squeal real loud if she sits on them..!

If they can make it through today then we generally find that they are good 🙌🐷 so no visits on the maternity ward just yet please 😉

We are really looking forward to farm shop Friday! We’ve got loads in the chillers but are most excited about what’s going out on pink plates to the Tiny Cow Coffee Club today… .doughnuts are bringing some of their fabulous giant doughnuts to bring that Fri-yay feeling! Pop down 9am for 3pm to grab yours 🍩☕️

Rosie’s been a busy girl in the night….remember…what you count in this video might not be what we end up with…that big girl gets up & down a lot now and the little pigs are vulnerable today….! 🤞 Let’s hope we’ve got some fast wrigglers in the barn today. No one does the final head count until day two 👀 our barn is closed today whilst the big girls settles in with her new brood 🐷☺️

Did ya know… 🥛

Our pal Imogen Butterworth Farmers milks her little herd of Jerseys & Dexters out in the the field every morning. 🌱☀️

They are milked once a day on a mobile tandem milking parlour! This means that the girls can stay out on grass, can stay with their calves and Imogen just takes the milk that they can spare.

Her cow and calf microdairy is in East Sussex, but you can buy Imogen’s raw and pasteurised milk direct from her at local farmers markets and we are absolutely delighted to have her with us in the barn every other Saturday! 💪

If you haven’t met Imogen yet, or tried her cream top milk - pop along this weekend! She will have tasters for you to try and when you see it pour like cream from the bottle we guarantee you’ll be sold before you’ve even tried it 🥛🙌

It is a pleasure to back our local dairy farmer! And you can support her and this small farming system too by grabbing your milk direct from her 🫶🐮

Moody Sussex sun rises this week ☀️

This week on the farm we are pulling out old buried fences to make way for contractors to chuck up some very smart new ones! Having proper stock fencing out on the farm will mean that we can graze our cattle tighter and maximise our grass yields 🌱 we also won’t have cheeky sheep popping out on the lane at any point in the foreseeable….!

We are also mucking out the big shed at home, which is a stinky job but it makes way for something a little fun which is coming our way next weekend… time to dust off those spooky buckets. Has it been a whole year since we played those trick or treat games? 😉🎃

The Butterbox cattle shed is our favourite place to spend spooky season… watch this space for all the details 👻👀

Smarties cookies are back in the wagon today….

Find them with some Biscoff cookies and thick milky bar cookies too! 👀

We also have giant pastries, apple crumble muffins and a variety of our homemade sausage rolls, including our Butterbox banger originals, caramelised onion and XL marmite sausage rolls! 🤭 Yum!
