Butchers Hook The business has gone from strength to strength with the support of our valued and loyal customers.

WE NOW HAVE 4 STORES

Terry and Jackie took over the shop on 27th March 2014 with the aim of providing a customer friendly environment, top quality meat at affordable prices. We do a variety of freezer deals, bulk purchases, meat for the week packs and meat for the month packs. we have a good customer following for our beef and steak which is all hung prior to selling for a nicer flavour, and any

special requirements are always catered for. We always try and source our meat locally, and work on minimum mark up for ourselves, so the customer reaps the savings and receives value for money. we have an in store sandwich bar open 7am - 3pm daily, offering freshly made sandwiches and filled rolls, a large selection of hot and cold pies, pasties, pork pies, scotch eggs and other delicious items on our deli counter for you to take away and enjoy

Our braising steak is prepared by our experienced team of butchers, who take the time to carefully trim the beef, removing excess fat, gristle and any unwanted bits before dicing it ready for you.

That means you’re taking home good, lean, properly prepared beef that can go straight into your favourite dishes.

🍲 WHAT CAN YOU MAKE WITH IT?

There’s so much you can do with diced braising steak. Try a traditional beef stew & dumplings, rich beef casserole, steak & ale pie, beef bourguignon, slow-cooked beef curry, chilli beef or a warming beef hotpot.

It’s also ideal for the slow cooker — get everything in before work and come home to a lovely tender beef dinner on a cold evening.

⚖️ WATCHING YOUR CALORIES?

Lean, well-trimmed braising beef can be a great source of protein, iron and vitamin B12. The exact calories will vary according to the cut and how much fat remains, so check the nutritional information for the beef you buy if you’re tracking calories closely.

And remember, what you cook it with makes a big difference too — loading a stew with plenty of vegetables and keeping added oils, pastry and creamy sauces to a minimum can help keep the overall calories down.

These cracking Tomahawk Steaks have been cut by our own butchers from locally sourced whole Dexter beef carcasses, which we’ve traditionally hung for 18 days to develop tenderness and that proper beefy flavour.

🐂 WHY DEXTER BEEF?

Dexter is a traditional, smaller native cattle breed, well known for producing beautifully flavoured beef with good marbling. That natural marbling helps keep the meat juicy and gives Dexter beef the rich, full flavour it’s renowned for.

And when you’re buying beef like this — locally sourced, hung properly and cut by a butcher — you really can taste the difference.
