🍂 October is here — time to nourish from within. 🥣

As the temperature drops and the days get shorter, it’s a good time to pay a little more attention to what we’re putting into our bodies.

Bone broth is a traditional, nutrient-dense food that has earned its place in a nourishing autumn diet. It provides easily digestible protein, collagen-derived amino acids and essential minerals that nourish joints, gut integrity and overall vitality.

And it couldn’t be easier to incorporate:

🥣 Drink it warm from a mug
🍲 Add it to soups, stews and risottos
🌾 Cook grains and rice in it for extra flavour and nourishment

BONE is made right here in the Hebden Bridge hills, using organic beef and chicken bones, locally sourced organic vegetables and local spring water. Each batch is slowly simmered for up to 48 hours, creating a rich, concentrated broth with no shortcuts.

Real ingredients. Traditional preparation. Made locally.

How I’m looking after myself as we move into autumn 🍂

I know this is the time of year when my body can start to struggle.

The colder temperatures. The damp. Less daylight. And my rheumatoid arthritis tends to flare as we move into autumn and winter.

So I’m thinking less about pushing through and more about what I can do now to support myself.

✨ Making more time for rest
✨ Moving towards warm, nourishing meals as the seasons change
✨ Getting outside and getting morning light in my eyes
✨ Slowing down after the energy of summer
✨ Protecting an hour before the school run rather than filling every gap with something to do
✨ Saying no when something doesn’t feel right or feels like it will take more from me than I have to give
✨ Listening to my intuition and paying attention to what my body is telling me

None of this needs to be perfect.

Some days will still be chaotic. Some days I’ll eat whatever I can find, stay up too late and forget to get outside.

It’s about creating more space to notice what I need, and making choices that support me where I can.

And actually, one of the things I love most about doing this is that my children get to see it too.

That looking after yourself isn’t something you earn once everything else is done.

That rest matters. Food matters. Being outside matters. Saying no matters.

That we can listen to our bodies and change what we’re doing when we need to.

This is what self-care looks like for me as the wheel turns into autumn. 🍂

Everyone in our house has been a bit under the weather, so this has been on repeat. 🍅

It’s one of those meals that feels like a hug in a bowl, and the best bit?

The kids actually like it.

Which, when you’re trying to get something nourishing into a poorly child, feels like a small miracle. 😂

It’s packed with good stuff too.

Bone broth brings protein, amino acids, collagen and gelatin. The tomatoes, garlic, onions and basil add vitamin C, antioxidants and a whole load of plant goodness, with olive oil and parmesan bringing healthy fats, protein and calcium.

Nothing complicated. Just proper food, made from good ingredients, that feels comforting when everyone is feeling a bit rough.

🍅 Roasted Tomato & Bone Broth Soup

Serves 4

500ml BONE Organic Broth
1 x 400g tin tomatoes
4 cups vine tomatoes, quartered
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1 onion, diced
Small bunch fresh basil leaves, chopped
3 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper
1 handful grated parmesan per serving
A drizzle of double cream, optional

How to make it

Preheat the oven to 185°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.

Put the vine tomatoes on the tray with 2 of the crushed garlic cloves, 2 tbsp olive oil and a good pinch of salt and pepper. Gently combine and roast for around 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat the remaining olive oil in a large pan and gently brown the onion. Add the remaining garlic and cook for another minute.

Add the tinned tomatoes and BONE broth. Season to taste and simmer for around 10 minutes.

When the roasted tomatoes are ready, add them to the pan along with the fresh basil and blend until smooth.

Serve with grated parmesan and, if you fancy it, a little drizzle of double cream.

And my favourite bit? Dunking cheese on toast into it. Absolutely bloody delicious. 😋

Mabon 🍂

I like to mark the turning of the wheel.

The autumn equinox feels like a natural moment to pause, look back at what the summer has brought us, and notice what we want to carry forwards.

And this year, that feels particularly meaningful.

We’ve recently blended two families and begun the process of becoming one.

It’s beautiful. And it’s also brought up some fears.

What will I have to give up?
Where will my own needs fit?
How do I make space for everyone else without losing myself in the process?

I’m learning that caring for other people and caring for yourself don’t have to be opposing things.

That there’s something quite beautiful about learning to meet the needs of others while staying connected to your own.

And I’ve loved deepening the connection with these beautiful children.

Watching them. Getting curious about their different ways of being. Noticing the little things beneath the behaviour. What they’re communicating. What makes them feel safe, loved, seen.

There’s so much richness in really seeing a child for who they are, rather than just trying to get them to fit into how we think they should be.

And I think that’s something I want to carry into this next season.

More noticing.
More curiosity.
More appreciation for the people right in front of me.

What are you taking with you from this summer? And what are you ready to let go of?

Your autumn elixir: bone broth. 🍂

Autumn is the time to start thinking about supporting your body through the colder months.

Shorter days. Less sunlight. More bugs going around. More demands on your immune system.

And this is where good food really matters.

Bone broth is a nutrient-dense, protein-rich food, naturally containing amino acids, collagen and gelatin. It’s an easy way to add extra nourishment to your diet when you’re tired, run down or simply need something restorative.

Think of it as an old-school health food for modern life.

A mug when you’re feeling under the weather.
A nourishing base for soup when you need a proper meal.
Something simple to have in the freezer when energy is low.

BONE is made with organic ingredients and slowly simmered for 48 hours to create a rich, highly concentrated broth.

No powders. No complicated ingredients. Just real food, made properly.

You can find BONE locally at , or order directly at www.boneorganicbroth.co.uk for local or national delivery. And if you want to make BONE part of your regular routine, you can take out a subscription and have your broth delivered regularly, with 15% off every order.

How to feel grounded when you’re overwhelmed.

We often already know what helps us feel grounded.

Good food. A walk outside. Seeing a friend. Rest. A bit of quiet.

But when life feels full, even these simple things can feel surprisingly hard to reach for.

I think part of it is that we’re so used to doing our way through things. Sorting. Organising. Solving. Keeping everyone else going.

Sometimes the way back is much simpler.

This morning I felt exhausted, anxious and overwhelmed by family stuff, health stuff, hormonal shifts and a brain in a million different places.

So I stopped.

I made a mug of warm BONE broth and sat down. No podcast. No phone. Just something warm and nourishing while I gave myself a bit of space.

Then my beautiful friend Kati Vernon shared a lovely practice of self-soothing with me: a hug, a gentle stroke and a beautiful song.

And slowly, I came back to myself.

Food, warmth, stillness, touch, nature and connection.

Simple things that remind us we’re bodies, not just brains with endless things to do.

What helps you feel grounded?

Happy 1st of the month my loves 🍂

As we move into autumn, it's a good time to start thinking about how we nourish and support our bodies through the changing seasons.

Bone broth has been used for generations as a simple, nourishing food, and I love how much goodness can come from a few simple ingredients and a long, slow simmer.

Our broth is made here in the hills of Hebden Bridge using bones from organic, grass-fed, animals, slowly simmered for 48 hours. It's naturally rich in collagen, gelatin and amino acids, making it a lovely addition to your daily nourishment, particularly when you're looking for a little extra support for gut health, joints, skin, recovery and overall wellbeing.

You can drink it warm from a mug, add a spoonful to a dish or use it as a nourishing base for soups, stews, sauces and everyday cooking. It's a food-as-medicine staple for the freezer.

You can find BONE locally at Pennine Provisions, or order directly at www.boneorganicbroth.co.uk for local or national delivery. And if you want to make BONE part of your regular routine, you can take out a subscription and have your broth delivered regularly, with 15% off every order.

And a big thank you to all our lovely local customers who continue to support BONE, recommend us to friends and keep coming back for their next batch. It means a lot to a small local business. ❤️

Much love,

Leilah ###

Can Bone Broth Replace a Protein Shake?
Short answer: no, and it's not trying to. Here's what bone broth actually does for your recovery — and what it doesn't. A complementary source of amino acids, collagen and minerals — alongside a solid protein intake, not instead of it. 💬
