The club is open for new memebers and looks forward to hearing from anyone who is interested to join.
As tradition holds the retiring Chair gave a mini wine tasting. Joyce presented a lovely French red obtained from the CoOp.

What can we say. May saw us move back to our summer home at the Community Centre and the last presentation before the AGM in June and what a night it was.
Our President Edward Marshall took us on a journey of fun and experience.
Edwards theme was "come fly with me" taking us on a flight around Europe to experience some unusual wines.
As always with Edward he trys to show members wines made from local indigenous grapes. Not the mass produced supermarket wines. All tbe wines tasted are available in the UK though.
After take off from Manchester Edwards flight took us to Portugal for a light white wine. Then to Hungary ,Georgia for some lovely light red wines. Then finally to Crete for a dark red.
The evening introduced some lovely wines along with the knowledge of what anthocyanins are and how they effect the colour of the wine.
After landing back at Manchester we just had time to take breath and enjoy the raffle kindly provided by Susan Shackleton.
Next month is the AGM then we will look forward to the 26/27 programme which as always has some fantastic evenings planned

Spring is here and last night was the April meeting of the wine circle. This of course signaled our annual Presidents evening.
The President Edward Marshall chose his theme as a French Evening.
The room was beautifully decorated with the artistic help if Bridget Croft who made some fantastic table decorations.
Many members got into tbe spirit and dressed up.
Members arrived to a glass of champagne and kir. Followed by a lovely meal of pate followed by beef bourguignon and creme caramel.
The evenings entertainment was provided by tbe Internationally renowned accordanist Mike Hirst. Giving us a true French Bistro feeling.
Next month we move to our summer venue at the Community Centre and will be treated to a presentation of wines from various parts of the World in a theme of "come fly with me" given by Edward

Well Spring is in the air and the March meeting of the Coiners Wine Circle was held last night at Mytholmroyd Cricket Club.
We were expecting a talk from a freelance wine journalist but unfortunately Shirley was taken ill at the last minute.
But like a breath of fresh Spring air a last minute speaker volanteerd to speak to us. Our thanks go to Emma Baylin from Singing for Harmony.
Emma explained how the group helps people suffering from dementia, long covid, mental illness and other problems using the power of singing together. Emma is based in Hebden Bridge I would throughly recommend anyone local to go and see what they are doing and give your support.
Of course a wine circle would not be a wine circle if we did not have wine . Our very own Philliip Dean presented a lovely Spanish wine Hecula Monastrell. A wine produced in tbe Yecka DO in South Eastern Spain.
The wine is from the Los Gruesas and Pozuella vineyards which are situated at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level. With the altitude and weather. The Grape produces a wine which is deep ruby in colour. With aromas of ripe red cherries, plums and blueberries. Complemented by subtle toasted aromas. It is 14.5% ABV. But most importantly it was a lovely wine to drink and can be drunk and enjoyed at many different occasions. Thank you Philip for introducing this wine.
The next meeting in April will be the Presidents night

Happy New Year and the Wine Circle meetings have started for 2026.
A great start to the year with wine tastings from three lady members. Jane,Susan and Anne gave us three very different wines to try.
First off was Jane who introduced members is an interesting white Rioja. A very full wine with a stone bouquet. Great to have with a big paella of sausage or peppers.
Susan presented La Vieilli Ferme ( The Chicken Wine). A lovely French table wine. Made by the famous Famille Perin from the Southern Rhone Valley.
This was followed by the final wine . What else to start the New Year than a champagne. Anne gave us a humorous presentation on how she arrived at this wine. The club President Edward Marshall gave a toast to club members and to 2026 with it. The Cahmpagne was from Ludl and an extremely competitive price when compared to some of yhe other 2,000 champagne houses
The vote of thanks was given by Phillip for tbe lovely and well thought out tasting given by the three ladies.
Next month is on the 6th February and will be in South African wines

It's December and this brings the much anticipated Coiners Wine Circle's Christmas Dinner. Always a great night and this year no exception.

It was a packed meeting and most members attended. The were greeted by a lovely glass of punch made by Toni Dempsey. The table decorations were top notch and much work providing them was done by Bridget Croft. The little reindeer made from corks a big hit. Even the napkins had the clubs logo printed on them
A fantastic buffet provided by the committee and members. With our President Edward Marshll expertly carving the turkeys.
To help the food go down we were entertained by Martin Sunderland and dancing went in till late.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE LOOKING FORWARD TO 2026

The November meeting of tbe Coiners Wine Circle had a presentation with a twist.
Member Neil Croft gave us an informative and amusing talk on the history of gin from its inception to current methods.
This was accompanied by three wonderful gin cocktails. A Negroni (gin and campari) A lovely Pink Gin (Gin and bitters). The the ultimate and iconic drink. Of course this was the Vesper as directed by James Bond in Casino Royale. Of course expertly shaken not stired by Bridgit,Toni and Ginny
Next month is the Christmas Party

Last night was tbe October meeting of the wine circle and despite storm Amy doing her best members turned out for a tasting from Ray at Ripponden Wine Company
Keeping to the theme of the grape. Ray gave a tasting on the Grenache grape wines of the single grape and how the wine can vary from Sardinia to Australia.
We started with a Grenache Blanc a lovely deep wine.from the Aaragon area. This was followed by a Bantu from Sardinia where it is fabled to have magical powers. There are more Centenarians here as a percentage of the population than any where in tbe World. The wine was pretty good to:-)

Then down to Australia for a Willunga from tbe McLaren Valley. A deeper more rounded wine typical of Australian wine makers

Then back up to France and to taste a Grenache blen. Of course Cotes Du Rhone. A lovely wine.
Then as a suprise treat Ray opened a special magnum of wine to taste a PSI 2022 from Ribera del Duero in Spain. A Tempranillo and Garcha blend. A wine tasting of fruits with a spicy note on the palate
The raffle was presented by Jane and in his absence Barrie.
The vote of thanks was given by Mike
