Ready for the weekend?

Here’s our line up on the bar, and don’t forget that on Sunday (3-6pm), our traditional Irish session will be playing in the taproom - a nicer way to spend a Sunday than supping some award-winning b**rs with friends and live music in the background, we defy you to find.

If you can’t be with us in Heckington and find yourself in or near Lincoln, the iconic Cardinals Hat will have two of our popular b**rs on tap from this weekend; our harvest-time b**r - Greenman (3.8%), and John Barleycorn (5.5% - a pale, golden English IPA) will be on the bar from Friday onwards.

It’s great to have The Cardinal’s Hat as part of the 8SB family.

Oh and for those still reading… it’s Windmill Wednesday and that means £0.50 off all pints at the taproom.

Our brilliant quiz night with Michael. Cash prizes, and lots of laughs.

Live music, from Torann The Singer, Twilight, our monthly trad Irish session musicians (plus special guest!), Charlie Russell-Music , Temple bay and Jessica Violet Violin.

…and lots more to follow this autumn and winter, including a new food offer, our dark b**r festival, new b**rs - such as the third in our Norwegian series, amongst other returning favourites (Mill Stome and Fen Slodger), a new monthly music night that celebrates vinyl, and lots more…

We are very proud to be listed in the UKs best selling b**r and pub guide, compiled by CAMRA

It’s not our first rodeo - this is our sixth consecutive year listed in the **rguide, and every year we strive to do our best to keep that run going.

The book is, obviously, choc full of excellent pubs and taprooms, although we think we’re in our own category of having a wonderful windmill right next to us!

This years foreword is written by and we love this quote from Ian during an interview with Meet and Drink, back in 2019:

“You have to have good pubs to drink good b**r in. I’m very particular about the kind of pubs I go into – I never go into pubs that have doormen, for example, that’s a rule of thumb. There’s a reason why they’ve got doormen; they’re expecting trouble.

And I’m not keen on pubs that have juke boxes and pool tables. When I come into a pub I come for the conversation, for the company, or to listen into other people’s conversations – I use them all the time for realism, it’s what people say, so it makes the dialogue realistic.“

We couldn’t agree more, Ian!

This weekend - it’s the start of autumn, but we’re not ready to be consigned to the taproom…

Tonight (Friday):
Authentic Neapolitan pizzas are back at 8SB courtesy of Chapel House Pizza Co - serving from 5pm and judging by how well they went down last time, make sure you arrive/order early to avoid disappointment!

Saturday 26th:
Live music from Twilight - we welcome Dave, Chris and Tony back to the taproom again for their monthly performance. From 6-8pm, in the garden if weather allows, or taproom.

Sunday 27th:
Micky and other musicians return for our monthly trad Irish session - from 3-6pm, and if weather allows it’ll be in the garden.

As always, our range of b**rs will keep you all hydrated and for those that don’t drink b**r (?!), we have wines, ciders and soft drinks.
