Today marks exactly one year since we opened our doors in Harpenden... 🥐🌾

When we first started this journey, I had a mix of excitement and a little nervousness—I wasn't sure how we would be welcomed in a brand new town. But there was one thing I was absolutely sure of: anything baked with love and hard work would find its way to people's hearts.

Over time, you got to know us, and we got to know the wonderful people of this community. We grew together, sharing moments along the way. We truly believe that everything begins with passion and effort. Your kind words have brought us so much pride and motivation, and we've made sure to greet you with a warm smile behind the counter every single day.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire Harpenden community for embracing us not just as a bakery, but as your neighbour and a part of your daily lives.

And, of course, a huge thank you goes to my amazing team, who have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with me throughout this year, always bringing their hard work and big smiles...

This is a quiet success story.

We worked tirelessly to build what makes us proud today. There were sleepless nights, days spent working through illness, zero vacations, and plenty of heated debates—balanced by moments of deep connection and togetherness.
Looking back, I realize that every single struggle we faced became the foundation of our success.
From day one, our goal has been simple: to give you our absolute best. And we are still striving to do that every single day.

This achievement belongs to all of us—to everyone walking this path alongside us, to the entire Artichoke family, and to the customers who support us every step of the way. We’ve built something truly special together.

Artichoke Persian Loaf

Our newest creation.
Inspired by the incredible feedback from our community, we set out to create a bread that is not only healthier, but also deeply connected to our roots and heritage.

As the name suggests, this loaf is crafted with organically grown, non-GMO Khorasan flour — an ancient grain originating from the historic Khorasan region of northern Iran.

Organic Khorasan wholemeal flour, often known as Kamut, is a highly nutritious ancient grain containing up to 40% more protein and significantly higher dietary fiber than modern wheat. It is valued for its potential cardiovascular, digestive, and metabolic benefits,

Khorasan is known for its beautiful golden color and naturally rich, buttery, nutty flavor. Through slow sourdough fermentation, these characteristics develop even further, creating a loaf with delicate fruity notes, a complex aroma, and a deeply satisfying taste.

A bread rooted in tradition, reimagined for today.
Currently, this special loaf is available exclusively on Saturdays.
