Making ‘funeral lasagnes’ in my beautiful summer kitchen.
Many of you will know that my wonderful Daddy suddenly checked out a couple of weeks ago. I’m not telling you looking for a whole load of sympathy (because life goes on and we are all massively thankful for every day that we did have and the beautifully scripted departure) … but because if things are a bit more chaotic than usual this week it’s because we are celebrating his awesomeness on Thursday ( 11 am at Hambleden church) and while I’m making all sorts of plans to reduce any c**k ups … you’ll understand if the wheels wobble a bit or god forbid .. fall off !! Things should be back to normal … (for business purposes .. but will never be quite the same for us .. ) by Friday. And if any of my lovely customers who chatted with him/ got to know him while he pottered about with his boat over the last 6 years would like to come .. you are so so welcome.
Thank you.

Friday flowers .. it’s become a thing … something I do on a Friday afternoon with the left overs from the floristry session we have on a Thursday.. It’s a moment to catch up with myself after a hectic few days and breathe for 1/2 an hour with busy hands and an empty mind ..

Did you know we provide flower buckets for you to do the same. Enough to fill your home with 2 or 3 bouquets and in a colour palette of your choice. It’s not just about an event, party or a gift. It’s taking time out and being creative. It’s good for the soul to create beauty! … why not start this intention by coming to one of our dahlia picking evenings. We’re sold out on the first week but we’ve a few spaces left on the last 3 weeks of August ( 11th 18th 25th) We’d love to see you there as it’s a lovely evening of picking and playing with flowers and making new friends !

The garden has lots of lovely things to offer and we’ve been getting on before the heat of the day to pick a fresh feast for your eyes and stomachs!

We’ve got the first of our homegrown potatoes, carrots, spring onions and tomatoes in the shop, along with our refreshing and hydrating cucumbers and courgettes, delicious agretti and spinach.

And of course, there’s bunches of flowers to bring some of the outdoor beauty indoors.

Our salad bags are full of a variety of red and green lettuces, mixed mustard leaves, golden purslane, nasturtium leaves and flowers.

All ready for your BBQ or light lunch as we head into another very warm weekend.

If you prefer whole head lettuce, we’ve also a selection of those in our fridge cabinet, as well as our own homegrown French beans, broad beans, agretti, kale, cavolo Nero, chard, beetroot, cucumbers, courgettes, tender stem and organic offerings from elsewhere including beautiful (and big!) black splendor plums, mini watermelons and tomatoes (although it won’t be long before the first of ours are ready too)

Another glorious day. So torn between wanting warm days to never cease and the desperate need for cooler days and some rain ! The flowers are absolutely hitting their stride now .. many weeks earlier than usual! The dahlias are really looking spectacular and I’ve hundreds of beautiful snaps. We’ve made some beautiful bunches with the ingredients pictured above and they’ll be in the shop first thing before it all gets too much for them. Please do come and select a bunch or a jam jar, the contents represent a year of hard work and commitment as well as a whole load of money in the growing and now we need to sell what we’ve grown ! Give some presents. Spread some joy .. order a bouquet or a mixed bucket to arrange yourself, with a friend or a crowd ! It’s a lovely thing to do!
