Competent stock person wanted for every other weekend Saturday and Sunday, plus occasional holiday cover. Less hours during the summer months when everything is out at grass, with winter and spring busier with lambing and calving. Working on your own. Between Ross on Wye and Hereford
About us
Suckler cattle, sheep and woodland pigs reared to supply our own butchery coming this year.
230 head herd of pedigree Ruby Red Devons, with 80 breeding cows and all followers finished on farm.
Calving twice a year.
Cattle housed during the winter.
Romney flock lambing 100 ewes outdoors.
Ryeland flock lambing 80 ewes inside.
Small woodland pig enterprise of bought in weaners.
Key responsibilities include:
Livestock care including feeding, bedding, monitoring animal health.
Daily checks for multiple groups at grass across the estate.
Lambing and calving.
Records kept of any medicine usage.
About you
Essential:
Minimum 3 years' experience working with sheep and cattle.
Competent administering medicines.
Be confident working alone.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience using a telehandler, tractor and straw chopper.
Desirable:
Experience with pigs.
Strong mechanical understanding to carry out basic maintenance.
Experience with electric fencing and no fence collars.
Personal Attributes:
Reliable and self-motivated.
Strong attention to detail especially with livestock health and welfare.
Takes pride in maintaining high standards of work.
Good communicator to ensure all relevant information is passed on to the stock team.
Pay dependant on experience.
