When checking our ewe lambs that we purchased this year (with the bosses permission of course…) we noticed this tiny lady! 🥹

This sweet little lamb is our newest addition to Lower Cwm Farm, she was born in early June and was certainly a surprise since the mother is not one of our homebred ewes! 🐑

Lets get some name suggestions for this new little one 🥰

Our lovely ladies are enjoying their short coats now that they have been shorn 🪒 Don’t they look neat!!

Shearing the ewes every year is very beneficial for our ladies health and welfare:

• Cooler during the hot weather (when we get it 🫣) to prevent heat stress
• Prevents flies from laying their eggs causing issues with maggots 🐛
• Maintains hygiene 🛁
• As well as these health benefits, the wool can be repurposed for multiple uses! Win win 🥳

At Lower Cwm Lamb we are slowly breeding towards our ewes being able to shed their wool naturally, we have had some already this year that have shed completely! 😁

We have been packing the fleeces ready to go to our customers this week! ✨

To be sustainable and environmentally friendly, we have purchased potato bags that have been made from recycled materials to pack our fleeces. 🌍♻️

We still have white fleeces available until late June, please contact us if you are interested 🐑

🔥Smoked lamb shoulder🔥

Lamb shoulder smoked for 8 hours on the BBQ!

Recipe below……

1) Prepare the lamb the night before with any spice rub, we applied our own blend of smoky Urfa and sesame blend (yum!) 🌶️- refrigerate overnight
2) Light the BBQ and allow the temperature to reach 100 degrees Celsius. We used coals and soaked applewood chips for this recipe but feel free to mix it up and add smoked wood chips for extra flavour! 😋
3) Smoke for 8 hours, checking regularly with a temperature probe. During this time feel free to enjoy a beer or two… 🍻
4) Remove from the heat and shred, serve with whatever you fancy! 😁

We added some laffa style flatbreads to the BBQ for a few minutes for that charred flavour. We then added crispy lettuce, pickled cabbage, the shredded lamb and topped with a yummy garlic sauce! 🥬🧄🐑
