Today’s gemstone spotlight is Aventurine — often called the stone of growth and abundance 💚

This gentle green gem is traditionally associated with prosperity, new beginnings, and heart-centred confidence. Whether you believe in crystal energies or just enjoy the symbolic meanings behind each stone, I think Aventurine makes a beautiful wish — for clarity, for fresh starts, and for the courage to grow into something new.

I currently feature Aventurine in several of my aromatherapy bracelet designs, including:
– Aventurine Harmony – for balance and grounding
– Aventurine Serenity – for inner calm and emotional resilience
– Rose Garden – a romantic blend of aventurine, rose quartz, and floral beads, designed for gentleness and self-love

Each piece is handmade with intention, magic, and a little nature-inspired sparkle ✨

✨ Meet the Artist ✨

Hello! I’m Natalie-Jane — artist, fantasy writer, gemstone enthusiast, and the maker behind Fairy Cove Curiosities 🧚🏻‍♀️

As July is Disability Pride Month, I wanted to share something personal.

This photograph of me and my husband was taken just a few weeks before our wedding during a beautiful engagement shoot. It’s one of my absolute favourites — and for a very special reason.

In this photo, I’m using my wheelchair — something often hidden or left out of the picture. I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user, meaning that I sometimes walk, sometimes use crutches, and sometimes need my chair depending on my pain and energy levels. That day, my chronic pain got too much, and I made the decision to sit.

And I’m so glad I did.

This was the first time someone took a photo of me in my chair where it wasn’t hidden or posed in a way to downplay it. For once, I wasn’t made to feel like it needed to be in the background. I was supported, seen, and celebrated — and I love how naturally joyful this photo feels.

Using mobility aids doesn’t make you less. It doesn’t make you weak.
My wheelchair is a part of my life, and it gives me freedom — not shame.
Disabled is not a dirty word. It’s a part of who I am, and I’m proud.

To my fellow disabled artists, creators, and dreamers — you are seen and worthy, exactly as you are 💜

A massive thank you to Joe Kimberley, the wonderful photographer behind this picture: on Instagram or check out www.jkphotographyuk.com

🌈 July is Disability Pride Month — a time to honour the beauty, strength, and diversity within the disabled community 💙💛🤍❤️💚

You may have seen this striking zigzag flag — but did you know what the colours mean?

🔵 Blue – psychiatric and mental illness
🟡 Yellow – cognitive and intellectual disabilities
⚪ White – invisible and undiagnosed conditions
🔴 Red – physical disabilities
🟢 Green – sensory disabilities (like deafness or blindness)

Together, these colours move in unity, representing how we each bring something unique — and that we’re stronger when we move together 🌈

As for me — I’ve been quiet lately. Living with chronic illness has meant a month of hard days, limited energy, and lots of rest. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve been reminded once again that healing is not a detour — it’s part of the path 💜

To my fellow disabled creatives, business owners, and dreamers:
You are powerful, you are worthy, and your pace is perfect.
I’m proud to be part of this community — and proud of every step we take together 💫

Today I’m sharing something very personal as we close out Fibromyalgia Awareness Month 💜

These Fibromyalgia Awareness Earrings are handmade using two very intentional stones:
– Lepidolite, often associated with emotional healing and calm
– Tiger’s Eye, symbolising courage and resilience
Topped with a bronze butterfly — a symbol of transformation and hope 🦋

This month, fibromyalgia has had me laid up more days than not. Pain, fatigue, and flare-ups made even basic tasks hard. As someone with a creative soul and a small handmade business, that can be really disheartening.

But designing and creating this piece reminded me:
Even when we are still, we are growing. Even in pain, there is beauty.

To anyone else living with chronic illness: you are brave, you are worthy, and you are absolutely magical 💫

Let’s talk gemstones! 💫

I’d love to hear —
✨ What’s your favourite gemstone?
🌿 Does it hold a special meaning or memory for you?

Perhaps it’s a crystal you’ve always felt drawn to, a gift from someone you love, or a gem that reminds you to stay grounded, hopeful, or brave. Whether it’s rose quartz for love, tiger’s eye for courage, lapis lazuli for wisdom, or something completely different, I’d love to hear your story 💗

Let’s fill this thread with gemstone magic!
