💍 A little notice for tomorrow!🍎

We’re very excited to be hosting a wedding here at Rich’s Cider tomorrow, so the Cider Press Restaurant will be closing a little earlier than usual while we get everything ready for the celebrations. 🥂

🍳 Breakfast will be served as normal
🍽️ Lunch orders available until 1pm

We’re almost fully booked inside, but we will still have outside seating available.

If you’re planning on visiting us tomorrow, we’d highly recommend giving us a call beforehand to book your table and avoid disappointment.

Christmas is just around the corner, and our Festive Set Menu is now open for bookings!

Available from 30th November – 23rd December, it’s the perfect excuse to get together with family, friends or colleagues and enjoy a festive afternoon at Rich’s. 🥂

📺🍎 Rich’s Cider on BBC Somerset!

We welcomed BBC Somerset to the farm on Tuesday, where George Scott, third generation at Rich’s Cider, spoke live about the challenges this summer’s drought is creating for this year’s apple harvest.

The prolonged dry weather has left many of our apples much smaller than usual, with some falling and rotting before they’ve had the chance to ripen properly.

One of our orchards would usually produce around 20–30 tonnes of cider apples, but sadly this year we won’t be harvesting it at all. Anything that does fall will instead be left for the sheep to enjoy! 🐑🍏

Thankfully, there’s no need to worry about a cider shortage! 🍻 Last year we had a fantastic harvest and filled plenty of tanks, meaning we still have lots of Rich’s Cider ready to keep you well supplied.

It was great to be part of the BBC Somerset feature alongside other local cider makers, highlighting the reality of working with the seasons and just how much our harvest relies on the Great British weather. 🌳🌦️

BBC Somerset joined us live at Rich’s Cider on Tuesday to talk about the impact this summer’s prolonged dry weather is having on Somerset’s cider apple harvest.

Our very own George Scott, third generation of the Rich’s Cider family, spoke about some of the challenges we’re seeing across our orchards this year.

The lack of rainfall has left many of our apples much smaller than usual, with some falling or beginning to rot before they’ve had the chance to ripen properly.

One of our orchards at the farm would normally produce around 20–30 tonnes of cider apples, but this year we won’t be harvesting it at all. Instead, anything that naturally falls will be left for our sheep to enjoy. 🐑🍏

But don’t worry – there’s no cider shortage here! 🍻Thankfully, last year gave us a fantastic harvest and we filled plenty of tanks, so we still have lots of Rich’s Cider in stock and ready to enjoy.

The BBC Somerset feature also looked at how this year’s conditions are affecting other local cider makers and the wider Somerset cider industry.

It’s certainly shaping up to be a challenging harvest and a reminder of just how much traditional cider making depends on the weather and the seasons. 🌦️🍎

🌱 A greener way to add a little sparkle! 🍏

We’ve recently invested in a new, larger CO₂ tank here at Rich’s Cider, helping us take another step towards reducing our environmental impact.

The larger capacity means fewer CO₂ deliveries are needed throughout the year, which means fewer lorry journeys to our site and fewer miles travelled. 🚛⬇️

The CO₂ is used to carbonate selected ciders from our range, giving them that refreshing fizz we all know and love. 🍎🥂

Even better, our latest delivery is CO₂ from green energy, making this investment another positive change as we continue looking for practical ways to make what we do more efficient and sustainable.

Fewer deliveries. Fewer lorries on the road. Same great Somerset cider. 🌳🍏

George has been talking all things apples with BBC Somerset!

The recent drought has had a huge impact on this year’s apple crop, with fruit dropping from the trees far earlier than it should and sadly much of it being unusable for cider making.

Yields are down significantly across Somerset, making it a challenging year for cider makers and growers throughout the county.
