You may have heard on the news in the last few days about an outbreak of salmonella. It is being reported as potentially coming from IMPORTED eggs. To give a little context, imported eggs do not have to adhere to the same exacting standards that we do in the UK.
We would like to reassure our customers that as UK egg producers we work to exceptionally high standards. We operate under the UK National Control Programme for Salmonella. This means that our hens are vaccinated against salmonella and have follow up tests every 13 weeks (our most recent one being on 23rd June returning as “not detected”), and an annual salmonella audit by APHA officials to ensure we continue to meet the required Salmonella control standards for the UK.
If you are ever unsure about the country of origin of your eggs, look at the stamp.

The first number means
0 = Organic
1 = Free range
2 = Barn
3 = Caged
Next is country of origin, look for UK.
Lastly a unique code for each farm, a five-digit number (21082).
