🌭 COME AND JOIN OUR TEAM!

We’re looking for another pair of hands to join us behind the scenes at Hoof to Block Butchery.

We need someone with previous experience making sausages and burgers who can come in, get stuck in and work confidently alongside our team in a busy production environment.

No two days are quite the same, but you’ll mainly be:

🌭 Making sausages
🍔 Making burgers
🔪 Preparing and processing meat
🥩 Helping produce our range of handmade products
🧼 Keeping the production area clean, organised and up to our usual high standards
🙌 Mucking in with the rest of the team when needed

We’re a busy, hands-on butchery, so we’re looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and happy working at pace. Someone who takes pride in doing a job properly, works well with others and isn’t afraid to get stuck in when things get busy!

Experience making sausages and burgers is essential for this role. Previous experience in butchery or food production would be a big advantage too.

⏰ Part-time – hours negotiable
We can be flexible with days and hours between Monday and Saturday, so we’re happy to discuss what could work for the right person.

💷 Competitive pay depending on experience.

A little Sunday behind-the-scenes 👀

There’s a lot that goes on before everything reaches our counter, from breaking down whole animals and preparing each cut to making burgers, sausages, pasties and all the other bits you see in the shop.

We’ve always believed proper butchery should be visible, which is exactly why we designed the shop with an open-plan cutting area. Nothing hidden away, you can see exactly what we’re doing and have a chat with us while we do it!

Proper burgers, made properly 🍔

Hand-pressed right here in the shop using quality local Beef, no frozen, mass-produced burgers hiding in our counter!

Thick, meaty and perfect for the BBQ, frying pan or grill… although with the British weather, we’d probably keep all three options open 😂

You’ve been keeping us incredibly busy making these beauties, and we’re producing as many as we physically can each day 🙌

Proper homemade Cornish pasties, generously filled with 60% beef and available freshly baked from the shop at 27 Queen Street.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone… so come early if you don’t want to miss out! 😋

A little thank you… ❤️

We’ve now been open in Bude for five weeks, and before too much more time passes, we wanted to say a huge thank you to the amazing people who helped turn an empty unit into the shop we’re so proud to call home.

Every one of these businesses and individuals played a part in bringing Hoof to Block to life, and we genuinely couldn’t have done it without them.

🧱 Simon Pearce – pretty much everything we threw at him! 😅 Including that awesome tiling!

🛠 Couch Flooring – supplied and fitted our flooring.

⚡️ Andy Tiller – all of the electrical work.

🚰 Gary Dinshaw – Plumbing.

🪧 JAG Signs – our brilliant signage.

🔨 Complete Joinery – saving the day by altering the door frame when the counter wouldn’t fit! 🫣 Plus building our breakfast bar.

🎨 Richard Hudson – painting the exterior.

❄️ Saxty Engineering / BS Air – moving our refrigeration into its new home.

🚚 AAA vehicle rentals - moving everything else! Including that super awkward chiller!

Thank you all for your hard work, advice, patience and support throughout the project. It’s been a huge team effort, and we’re incredibly grateful to every single one of you for working hard to turn it around as quickly as you did!

And finally, thank you to all of our customers. The support we’ve received since opening has been overwhelming, and we’re so grateful that so many of you have chosen to shop with us. Here’s to many more years in Bude! ❤️

Meet the Team 👋

Behind every steak, sausage, pasty and summer BBQ is a team that genuinely cares about what we do.

From preparing whole animals and making so much of what we sell from scratch, to serving customers with a smile, every member of the Hoof to Block team plays an important part in the business.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created here in Bude, but we’re even more proud of the people who make it happen every day.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us since we opened. Whether you’ve visited once or pop in every week, we honestly appreciate every single one of you.
